TL;DR: Increasing trend is observed in gall bladder cancer cases emphasizing the need for further large scale studies.
Abstract: Background: Global burden of cancer is on rise and trends and pattern of cancers are rapidly changing different geographic and population groups. Gall bladder cancers are emerging with increasing proportion among select areas and groups and understanding these variations are important for appropriate strategies and interventions. However, absence of a well-developed universal cancer registry system in India, institution based secondary data analysis can generate useful information. The present study was conducted to determine the trend and pattern of cancer cases (with special reference to gall bladder cancer) treated in a tertiary care hospital in northern part of West Bengal. Methods: Record based cross-sectional study was conducted in Department of Radiotherapy, North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. All newly registered cases between (2010 and 2012) were reviewed. Results: A total of 2058 cancer cases were recorded during the 3-year period. Of these, major types of cancers were oro-pharynx (16.1%), breast (15.4%), cervix (13.2%), lung (12.7%), gall bladder (6.5%) stomach cancer (6.4%), etc., Increasing proportions was observed for breast and gall bladder cancers. The proportion of gallbladder cancer cases in 2010, 2011, and 2012 were 3.8%, 7.3% and 7.8%, respectively. Among 134 gall bladder cancer cases, 93.3% were females, 85.1% alcoholics, 57.4% had a history of fatty liver, 94% had adeno/adenosquamous carcinomas, and 65.7% were metastatic in nature. Conclusions: Increasing trend is observed in gall bladder cancer cases emphasizing the need for further large scale studies.

TL;DR: This controlled DAPT investigation shows that Koro patients have significantly less perception of glans penis than the controls.
Abstract: Koro is a form of sexual neurosis in which a reaction of acute anxiety accompanies the perception of decreased penis length from intra-abdominal traction. This study attempts to explore the glans penis perception of Koro patients by a grapho-motor projective test – DAPT (Draw-a-penis Test). This controlled DAPT investigation shows that Koro patients have significantly less perception of glans penis than the controls. This perceptual deviation in glans penis image is discussed in relation to the sexual-behavioral profile and Koro vulnerability of the patients.

TL;DR: There is need to educate, train and motivate service providers in proper methods of giving injection along with improve the adequacy of supply of required equipments.
Abstract: INTRODUCTION Unsafe injection can transmit many diseases to patients, injection providers and healthy people of community. AIM To find out critical steps whether executed according to recommended best practice methods, availability of equipments in health facilities for safe injection practices and some important steps of waste disposal methods. MATERIALS AND METHODS This facility-based cross-sectional observational study was conducted among 30 Auxiliary nurse midwives (ANM) & 27 nursing staffs (NS) to assess certain aspects of their practice while administrating injection and disposal of the disposables. Health facilities were also observed to asses necessary equipments of safe injection and waste disposal methods. RESULTS Among the health workers 93.3% ANM and 100% NS took sterile syringe from sterile unopened packet, all of the study subjects washed hand before giving injection, 13.3% of ANMs and 8% of NS are fully vaccinated against Hep B, 53.3% of ANM and all NS are practices non recapping. Only 13.33% sub centres along with PHC & BPHC had at least one puncture resistant leak proof container, 86.7% sub centres, PHC are free from loose needles. Transport for off side treatment is the method of waste disposal in case of 73.3% cases sub centres, PHC & BPHC. CONCLUSION There is need to educate, train and motivate service providers in proper methods of giving injection along with improve the adequacy of supply of required equipments.

TL;DR: A full term three-day-old male child was presented with massive unilateral swelling in the left orbit, which was noted since birth, and Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of cystic teratoma.
Abstract: Congenital teratoma is a rare cause of congenital proptosis. A full term three-day-old male child was presented with massive unilateral swelling in the left orbit, which was noted since birth. Diagnosis of orbital teratoma without intracranial extension was made based on clinical examination and imaging. Lid-sparing exenteration of the left orbit was done. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of cystic teratoma. Congenital orbital teratoma with a tooth and mature elements of all the three germ cell layers is reported due to its extreme rarity.
