TL;DR: This paper considers the problem of acquiring servers for the nodes of an open queueing network, so as to optimize the steady-state mean virtual system parameters subject to a budget constraint.
Abstract: Several production and flexible manufacturing systems can naturally be modelled using queueing networks. In this paper, we consider the problem of acquiring servers for the nodes of an open queueing network, so as to optimize the steady-state mean virtual system parameters subject to a budget constraint. A partial enumeration scheme and a heuristic method have been proposed to solve this problem. Empirical results based on randomly generated test problems are used to identify a class of problems for which the heuristic performs well.

TL;DR: In this article, the Bivariate Pseudo-Weibull distribution has been defined as a compound distribution of two random variables to model the failure rate of component reliability, and the distribution of r-th concomitant and joint distribution of s-th and s−th concitant of record statistics of the resulting distribution have been derived.
Abstract: In this paper the Bivariate Pseudo–Weibull distribution has been defined as a compound distribution of two random variables to model the failure rate of component reliability. The distribution of r–th concomitant and joint distribution of r–th and s–th concomitant of record statistics of the resulting distribution have been derived. Single and product moments alongside the correlation coefficient have also been obtained. Recurrence relation for the single moments has also been obtained for the resulting distributions.

Abstract: To develop information literacy skills in chemistry and biochemistry majors at a primarily undergraduate institution, a multiyear collaboration between chemistry faculty and librarians has resulted in the establishment of a semester-long capstone project for Organic Chemistry II. Information literacy skills were instilled via a progressive research report, supported by a comprehensive modular virtual tutorial catered toward Rider University students, on the efficient use of SciFinder and related tasks for searching and using the primary literature. Over a six-year period, both the research report and the tutorial modules have been cyclically evaluated, assessed, and revised in order to meet our student learning objectives. This article describes the assessment-driven evolution of the research report assignment between 2010 and 2015, as well as student perceptions and learning outcomes. The technological development, feedback-driven revisions, and assessment of student learning outcomes of the SciFinder tu...
