TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared the financial characteristics of U.S. and European manufacturing firms with the MANOVA (Multivariate Analysis of Variance) method and financial ratios.
Abstract: Comparing the financial characteristics of firms in different countries and regions has been a popular research topic in finance. In this paper, we compare the financial characteristics of U.S. and European manufacturing firms with the MANOVA (Multivariate Analysis of Variance) method and financial ratios. Our findings indicate that the overall financial characteristics of U.S. and European manufacturing firms are significantly different. We find that U.S. manufacturing firms are more profitable and they have less liquidity and bankruptcy risks compared with European manufacturing firms. European manufacturing firms are more efficient in managing their fixed assets. However, U.S. manufacturing firms are more efficient in managing their accounts receivable and total assets. U.S. manufacturing firms are able to achieve significantly higher sales and total assets growth rates compared with European manufacturing firms.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the educational background and years of work experience of students entering a Microenterprise Training Institute (MTI) program, and found that education level was a significant, positive influence on the ability to graduate and on business plan scores, but had no influence on on-time homework completion.
Abstract: This article compares the educational background and years of work experience of students entering a Microenterprise Training Institute (MTI) program. Hypotheses were developed and tested to determine whether human capital attributes (education and work experience) influenced students' ability to graduate from an MTI program, to submit homework on time, and/or contributed to a better score on an evaluation of their business plan. Results indicated that education level was a significant, positive influence on the ability to graduate and on business plan scores, but had no influence on on‐time homework completion. Work experience had no effect on ability to graduate, homework submission, or business plan score.

01 Jan 2017TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss and demonstrate how different kinds of constraints affect early competency in mathematics and later creativity in composition, and suggest applications of their constraint model to other do mains.
Abstract: Constraints define domains, specifying goal criteria and accepted means of meeting them. Competency, the ability to problem solve in a domain, depends on mastering basic constraints. Creativity follows competency, as the product called creative must be both novel and appropriate to its domain. In this chapter, we discuss and demonstrate how different kinds of constraints affect early competency in mathematics and later creativity in composition. Applications of our constraint model to other do mains are also suggested.

TL;DR: Taste intensity ratings, especially for NaCl, were higher following pretreatment with water than methyl xanthine or adenosine combined with caffeine, and added at several concentrations to caffeine pretreatments, influenced neither taste responsivity nor taste intensity ratings.
