Abstract: The article addresses the expansion of secondary education in the state of Sao Paulo, from 1991 to 2003. Exactly in the decade when the policies were focused on Elementary Education, Secondary Education had the longest period of growth. Data on the evolution of enrollment in the four school systems − state, private, municipal and federal − are presented, as well as its distribution across the metropolitan area and the interior of the state. Enrollment rates are also presented by period, by grade and in rural secondary education. Finally, the text points out possibilities of interpretation of the phenomenon.

TL;DR: This paper discusses the development of a mobile learning environment, called ICMC MLE, following the precepts of a specific reference architecture for mobile learning, and the results showed a high level of satisfaction and convenience in relation to the use of IC MC MLE in real learning scenarios.
Abstract: Mobile learning environments have emerged as a way to support the m-learning initiatives, providing benefits to learners, teachers and tutors. However, despite their relevance, the development of mobile learning environments present problems and challenges that must be investigated, especially with respect to the definition and adoption of architectural patterns. Motivated by this scenario, in this paper we discuss the development of a mobile learning environment, called ICMC MLE, following the precepts of a specific reference architecture for mobile learning. ICMC MLE was also evaluated through an experiment; the results showed a high level of satisfaction and convenience in relation to the use of ICMC MLE in real learning scenarios.

TL;DR: In this paper, a classification of the different types of motivators, barriers and benefits existing in the processes of adoption of collaborative initiatives between companies within the supply chain is proposed, and the results achieved assist managers to know the different type of motivator that drive the adoption of these initiatives, the benefits that can be achieved and the barriers that can been encountered, hence avoiding unsuccessful implementations.
Abstract: Purpose: To propose a classification of the different types of motivators, barriers and benefits existing in the processes of adoption of collaborative initiatives between companies within the supply chain. Originality/value: The results achieved assist managers to know the different types of motivators that drive the adoption of these initiatives, the benefits that can be achieved and the barriers that can be encountered, hence avoiding unsuccessful implementations. Researchers provide a better theoretical understanding of the different types of components present in these initiatives, paving the way for the search for empirical evidence. Design/methodology/approach: A systematic review of the literature, focusing on five initiatives: Quick Response (QR), Efficient Consumer Response (ECR), Continuous Replenishment Program (CRP), Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), and Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR). Findings: The motivators for adopting these initiatives are related to the economic or market changes and/or the organization of these companies. The barriers are classified as cultural, behavioral and physical and the benefits are classified as primary and secondary; showing that the primary benefits must be achieved in order for the secondary benefits to appear. The work shows that despite the use of similar nomenclatures, the concepts used may be different for various contexts. In addition, the work shows that information and communication technologies cease to be a barrier and become a facilitator for companies interested in collaborating in their supply chain. The importance of human resources is also highlighted.

TL;DR: A decision policy based on multiple attributes to migrate VM in a vehicular cloud scenario is proposed, which allows to decide more quickly if a VM migration should be carried out and to which cloudlet this machine should be migrated.
Abstract: Virtual Machines (VMs) offer great flexibility, reusability, and portability to manage applications in physical resources of a Cloud data center or a mobile cloud. These VMs may suffer a migration from one datacenter to another or from one cloudlet to another, due to the characteristics of vehicular cloud, such as high mobility and the need to meet the demands of a particular service. In this way, establishing a VM migration policy in a vehicular cloud becomes a challenge, since it has to deal with the unique challenges of vehicular networks, as well as to meet the demands of users' services without virtual machine migration, which impacts on the performance of such service. In this paper, we propose a decision policy based on multiple attributes to migrate VM in a vehicular cloud scenario. In this way, the proposed policy allows to decide more quickly if a VM migration should be carried out and to which cloudlet this machine should be migrated. Simulation results showed that the proposed policy reduced in 2% the amount of VM migration in the network, decreased in 3% the blockages of the migration requests, as well as a reduction in the inference time of approximately 5 ms.
