06 Feb 2006TL;DR: In this paper, a method of cell reselection in a user terminal of a cellular network, the user terminal including an application using a packet radio service of the cellular network as a bearer service is presented.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of performing cell reselection in a user terminal of a cellular network, the user terminal including an application using a packet radio service of the cellular network as a bearer service In accordance with the method, a need for a cell change is detected in said user terminal It is checked if an active data packet transmission exists in said application If an active data packet transmission is detected, the start of cell reselection is delayed such that the probability of a successful data packet transmission increases

20 Dec 2005TL;DR: In this article, a communication system providing at least two access types for communication, wherein a first user equipment comprises means for communicating with a network node of the communication, a second user equipment has a first identity for identifying the user in a first access type, and a second identity for identification the second user in an access type.
Abstract: A communication system providing at least two access types for communication, wherein a first user equipment comprises means for communicating with a network node of the communication. A second user equipment has a first identity for identifying the user in a first access type, and a second identity for identifying the second user in a second access type. The first user equipment comprises means for forwarding the first identity of the second user equipment to a network node, said network node comprises means for, in response to receiving the first identity of the second user equipment, retrieving the second identity of the second user equipment; and said network node comprises means for initiating a functionality of a service accessible by the second user identity. This provides a simple and efficient way to combine two communication types for enhancing the services of either type.

27 Feb 2003TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a method of supporting connection set-up between a terminal and an application server in a visited network for providing the terminal with a service when the terminal is roaming the visited network.
Abstract: A method of supporting connection set-up between a terminal (MS) and an application
server (AS2) in a visited network for providing the terminal with a service
when the terminal is roaming the visited network (NW2). The terminal
(MS) transmits, to the visited network, a service request (2-4, 30) that at least
indirectly indicates the type of service, but when transmitting the service request,
the terminal is not aware of the application server suitable for providing
the service. An identifier (34, 35) identifying the visited network is added to the
service request (2-4, 30). The service request is forwarded to the home network
(NW1) of the terminal, and the home network concludes the application
server suitable for providing the service and identifying the network providing
the service. The home network then routes the service request to the application
server (AS2) of said network.

23 Jun 2004TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method for transmitting an short message between two terminals, where the receiver of the short message is determined on the basis of a so-called short number.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transmitting an short message between two terminals. In the method, the receiver of the short message is determined on the basis of a so-called short number, which short number is common to each A-subscriber, but to which corresponds the actual connection number of the B-subscriber determined by the A-subscriber. In the method, the short message is transmitted via a short message service center (SMSC) to a virtual home location register (vHLR), which gives said short number routing information for a virtual mobile switching center (vMSC), wherein the short number is converted into a connection number corresponding to it and suitable for the communication network of the B-subscriber, on the basis of which number the transmission of the short message is performed. In addition, the invention relates to a system that implements the method, as well as to a mobile switching center.

29 Jun 2004TL;DR: In this paper, the information is collected and processed with regard to traffic information, where information is arranged in a matrix and the information then is collected in a database, D, which can be utilized to optimize the resources of the network.
Abstract: Method and device at mobile telephone network, where information is collected and processed with regard to traffic information. Terminals, M, transmits information regarding their position to the mobile station, B. The information is forwarded to a filter function, F, which randomly selects a part of the incoming information. Further information from a location database, SD, is utilized, the information of which relates to technical data regarding lines, equipment etc. The information then is collected in a database, D, which can be utilized to optimize the resources of the network. The information is arranged in a matrix.
