07 Dec 1999TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe how the IP-packets are arranged to pass a packet filter that restricts the amount of data that each client application is allowed to transmit, by which the user will have possibility to make quality requirements on IP-traffic over Internet.
Abstract: Phase 1 of the standard for GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), which is a packet switched data service for GSM and which frequently is used towards Internet, does not support quality differentiation of IP-packets that have the same IP-address. This results in, inter alia, that client applications, which don't have strict requirements on delays, can reduce the quality for delay-sensitive client applications. The invention describes how the IP-packets are arranged to pass a packet filter that restricts the amount of data that each client application is allowed to transmit, by which the user will have possibility to make quality requirements on IP-traffic over Internet. Defining filter functions for a client application means that: the user describes how the IP-packets from a client application are identified; the user decides allowed bandwidth for each client application; the user decides rules for allocation of transmission capacity that a client appication momentarily does not utilise.

26 Apr 2007TL;DR: This paper describes the experiences of using a two-level multi-slot semantics as a way of meeting the problem of maintaining consistency among manually tagged utterances, and explores the ramifications of the approach with respect to classification, evaluation and dialogue design for call routing systems.
Abstract: Statistical classification techniques for natural-language call routing systems have matured to the point where it is possible to distinguish between several hundreds of semantic categories with an accuracy that is sufficient for commercial deployments. For category sets of this size, the problem of maintaining consistency among manually tagged utterances becomes limiting, as lack of consistency in the training data will degrade performance of the classifier. It is thus essential that the set of categories be structured in a way that alleviates this problem, and enables consistency to be preserved as the domain keeps changing. In this paper, we describe our experiences of using a two-level multi-slot semantics as a way of meeting this problem. Furthermore, we explore the ramifications of the approach with respect to classification, evaluation and dialogue design for call routing systems.

14 Mar 1996TL;DR: In this paper, a method for managing a buffer in a data network in which buffering is performed impartially for all connections is presented, where data is transferred in frames each made up of a plurality of data cells.
Abstract: A method for managing a buffer in a data network in which buffering is performed impartially for all connections. Data is transferred in frames each made up of a plurality of data cells. The data is buffered in a node point in the network in order to adapt the data network capacity to correspond to the capacity required by the transferable data. In a data overload situation at the buffer (or when the overload limit is about to be exceeded), the number of cells to be buffered and directed to the node point are predeterminately restricted.

17 Jul 2002TL;DR: In this paper, a method and system for monitoring, transferring and distributing channel-specific QoS data in a packet-switched mobile communication network, in which method QOS data is collected in an element of the mobile network, is presented.
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and system for monitoring, transferring and distributing channel-specific QoS data in a packet-switched mobile communication network, in which method QoS data is collected in an element of the mobile communication network. According to the invention, the QoS data is carried in extension fields of IP header data. The invention also concerns a monitoring agent for monitoring, transferring and distributing channel-specific QoS data in a packet-switched mobile communication network.

29 May 2001TL;DR: In this paper, a method and a system for using a wireless communications device (MS) for transferring media or control information from a telecommunication network to receiving equipment (STB) is presented.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a system for using a wireless communications device (MS) for transferring media or control information from a telecommunication network to receiving equipment (STB). In the method, information is being transmitted between the wireless communications device (MS) and the receiving equipment (STB). According to the invention, the wireless communications device (MS) is sent information relating to the receiving equipment (STB) and/or the desired service or product; the service request is sent to the service system (SERV), when the desired service or product has been selected using the wireless communications device (MS); the media or control information in accordance with the service request is delivered from the service system (SERV) to the wireless communications device (MS); and the media or control information received by the wireless communications device (MS) is transferred to the receiving equipment (STB).
