TL;DR: The NICE fairy-tale game system is presented, which enables adults and children to engage in conversation with animated characters in a 3D world and some requirements that have to be fulfilled to successfully integrate spoken dialogue technology with a computer game application.
Abstract: This paper presents the NICE fairy-tale game system, which enables adults and children to engage in conversation with animated characters in a 3D world. In this paper we argue that spoken dialogue technology have the potential to greatly enrichen the user's experience in future computer games. We also present some requirements that have to be fulfilled to successfully integrate spoken dialogue technology with a computer game application. Finally, we briefly describe an implemented system that has provided computer game characters with some conversational abilities that kids have interacted with in studies.

TL;DR: In this paper, an admission control algorithm for sharing a Radio Access Network, RAN, in one or more areas by at least two operators is presented. But the authors do not specify whether the operator associated with the NRI has invested in needed technology or not.
Abstract: In a method of sharing a Radio Access Network, RAN, in one or more areas by at least two operators the determination whether to grant admission or not of a User Equipment, UE, to the RAN is performed in an admission control algorithm. A Radio Network Controller, RNC, is reading Network Resource Identifier, NRI, information contained in an 'Initial Direct Transfer' message sent by the UE when requesting a service, and the read NRI information is used in a service admission control to check a plurality of service admission parameters as a part of a set of admission control parameters to grant or reject the requested service depending on whether the operator associated with the NRI has invested in needed technology or not. A corresponding radio access network comprises admission control means to determine whether to grant admission of a User Equipment, UE, to the network, RAN, or not. A Radio Network Controller, RNC, is arranged to read NRI, information contained in the 'Initial Direct Transfer' message sent by an UE, when requesting a service, and sending the read NRI information to the admission control means to check a plurality of service admission parameters as a part of a set of admission control parameters to grant or reject the requested service depending on whether the operator associated with the NRI has invested in needed technology or not.

TL;DR: Experiences from development and deployment of the Lega, a hand held device for physical sharing of experiences during an art exhibition, and some general observations regarding the systems performance are presented.
Abstract: This paper describes experiences from development and deployment of the Lega, a hand held device for physical sharing of experiences during an art exhibition. Touching and moving the device in different ways creates a tactile trace that can be experienced by others through their own device. The system was successfully deployed at an art exhibition for two months where user studies were performed. Here we present some general observations regarding the systems performance and discuss issues that we encountered.

TL;DR: The IP (Internet Protocol) core network operated by TeliaSonera in Sweden has been studied according to a described definition (system boundary) and extrapolated to a national level for Sweden and a method is proposed where the amount of data traffic is used to allocate the IP core network on different usage.
Abstract: The IP (Internet Protocol) core network operated by TeliaSonera in Sweden has been studied according to a described definition (system boundary) and extrapolated to a national level for Sweden. A top-down and a bottom-up data collection approach have been used to quantify network equipment and energy consumption. The electricity consumption of the IP core network was about one fourth of the total energy consumption of the connected mobile and fixed access networks. The use stage results for the Swedish IP core network is about 0.08 kWh per GB (Gigabyte) of data traffic corresponding to about 19 g CO 2 e/GB when applying a Swedish electricity mix. If instead a global average electricity mix is used, the resulting green house gas emission would be about 64 g CO 2 e/GB. A method is also proposed where the amount of data traffic is used to allocate the IP core network on different usage. The method is exemplified by the 3G mobile broadband data traffic in Sweden.

TL;DR: An overview of Kurenniemi's instruments and a detailed description of selected devices are presented, with emphasis on user interface issues such as unconventional interactive real-time control and programming methods.
Abstract: This paper presents a line of historic electronic musical instruments designed by Erkki Kurenniemi in the 1960's and 1970's. Kurenniemi's instruments were influenced by digital logic and an experimental attitude towards user interface design. The paper presents an overview of Kurenniemi's instruments and a detailed description of selected devices. Emphasis is put on user interface issues such as unconventional interactive real-time control and programming methods.
