TL;DR: The T2K experiment measures muon neutrino disappearance and electron neutRino appearance in accelerator-produced neutrinos and antineutrino beams and obtained 2σ confidence interval for the CP-violating phase, δ_{CP, does not include the CP -conserving cases (δ_{ CP}=0, π).
Abstract: The T2K experiment measures muon neutrino disappearance and electron neutrino appearance in accelerator-produced neutrino and antineutrino beams. With an exposure of $14.7(7.6)\times 10^{20}$ protons on target in neutrino (antineutrino) mode, 89 $ u_e$ candidates and 7 anti-$ u_e$ candidates were observed while 67.5 and 9.0 are expected for $\delta_{CP}=0$ and normal mass ordering. The obtained $2\sigma$ confidence interval for the $CP$ violating phase, $\delta_{CP}$, does not include the $CP$-conserving cases ($\delta_{CP}=0,\pi$). The best-fit values of other parameters are $\sin^2\theta_{23} = 0.526^{+0.032}_{-0.036}$ and $\Delta m^2_{32}=2.463\pm0.065\times10^{-3} \mathrm{eV}^2/c^4$.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compare the recent literature related to both field CO 2 -enriched experiments with trees and empirical dendrochronological studies detecting CO 2 fertilization effects in tree-rings.
Abstract: The CO 2 fertilization hypothesis stipulates that rising atmospheric CO 2 has a positive effect on tree growth due to increasing availability of carbon. The objective of this paper is to compare the recent literature related to both field CO 2 -enriched experiments with trees and empirical dendrochronological studies detecting CO 2 fertilization effects in tree-rings. This will allow evaluation of tree growth responses to atmospheric CO 2 enrichment by combining evidence from both ecophysiology and tree-ring research. Based on considerable experimental evidence of direct CO 2 fertilization effect (increased photosynthesis, water use efficiency, and above- and belowground biomass), and predications from the interactions of enriched CO 2 with temperature, nitrogen and drought, we propose that warm, moderately drought-stressed ecosystems with an ample nitrogen supply might be the most CO 2 responsive ecosystems. Empirical tree-ring studies took the following three viewpoints on detecting CO 2 fertilization e...

TL;DR: The authors used a lexical-decision task to examine people's "if... then" expectancies and found that participants who had recently been primed with a highly contingent relationship, as opposed to one based more on unconditional acceptance, were more likely to make a word-nonword judgment on a second letter string, which sometimes was a target word relating to interpersonal outcomes.
Abstract: The degree to which an individual perceives interpersonal acceptance as being contingent on successes and failures, versus relatively unconditional, is an important factor in the social construction of self-esteem. The authors used a lexical-decision task to examine people's "if. . . then" expectancies. On each trial, participants were shown a success or failure context word and then they made a word-nonword judgment on a second letter string, which sometimes was a target word relating to interpersonal outcomes. For low-self-esteem participants, success and failure contexts facilitated the processing of acceptance and rejection target words, respectively, revealing associations between performance and social outcomes. Study 2 ruled out a simple valence-congruency explanation. Study 3 demonstrated that the reaction-time pattern was stronger for people who had recently been primed with a highly contingent relationship, as opposed to one based more on unconditional acceptance. These results contribute to a social-cognitive formulation of the role of relational schemas in the social construction of self-esteem.

TL;DR: Positron-lifetime experiments on silicon at temperatures between 300 and 1523 K yield an activation enthalpy for neutral monovacancy formation of 3.6 eV, indicating that the character of the monvacancy is essentially independent of temperature.
Abstract: Positron-lifetime experiments have been conducted on silicon at temperatures between 300 and 1523 K. A lifetime attributable to positrons annihilating in monovacancies is directly observed above 1450 K. This lifetime has the same value as that associated with monovacancies at low temperature indicating that the character of the monovacancy is essentially independent of temperature. The results yield an activation enthalpy for neutral monovacancy formation of 3.6 \ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{} 0.2 eV. No evidence for divacancy formation could be found.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used categorization theory to understand the dynamics of vertical brand extensions and found that the introduction of any vertical brand extension (either step-up or step-down) has a negative impact on consumer evaluation of the core brand.
