TL;DR: In this critical review, plant sources used as effective antibacterial agents against Helicobacter pylori infections are carefully described and special attention was given to plant extracts with urease inhibitory effects, with emphasis on involved modes of action.
Abstract: In this critical review, plant sources used as effective antibacterial agents against Helicobacter pylori infections are carefully described. The main intrinsic bioactive molecules, responsible for the observed effects are also underlined and their corresponding modes of action specifically highlighted. In addition to traditional uses as herbal remedies, in vitro and in vivo studies focusing on plant extracts and isolated bioactive compounds with anti-H. pylori activity are also critically discussed. Lastly, special attention was also given to plant extracts with urease inhibitory effects, with emphasis on involved modes of action.

TL;DR: In this paper, the spectral and compositional properties of Chelyabinsk meteorite were investigated to identify its possible parent body in the main asteroid belt, and it was shown that the meteorite contains two spectrally distinct but compositionally indistinguishable components of LL5 chondrite and shock blackened/impact melt material.

TL;DR: The authors tracked refugee households over a three-year period, documents trajectories in labour force participation, income and poverty trends, neighbourhood experiences, and housing circumstances, and examined the dynamic related to the competition for affordable housing that exists with a marginalized Aboriginal population.
Abstract: Most refugees arriving in Winnipeg settle in the inner city, an area of substantive urban decline. The attraction of the area is the affordable, but poor quality, housing and proximity of service agencies. The area is characterized by unemployment, poverty, crime, and safety issues. It is also the destination of a significant influx of Aboriginal people, also seeking affordable housing and services. This study tracks refugee households over a three-year period, documents trajectories in labour force participation, income and poverty trends, neighbourhood experiences, and housing circumstances. It also examines the dynamic related to the competition for affordable housing that exists with a marginalized Aboriginal population. The picture that emerges is one of improving trajectories over time but also very difficult circumstances and sacrifices in housing and neighbourhood choices. The affects of settling in declining neighbourhoods and the competition for affordable housing complicates the resettlement pr...

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: No significant enhancement in removal of nutrients or pharmaceuticals was observed in mesocosms with extensive aquatic plant communities, likely due to three factors: use of naïve systems with an unchallenged capacity for nutrient assimilation and contaminant removal; second, nutrient sequestration by ubiquitous filamentous algae; and third, dominance of photolytic processes in the removal of pharmaceuticals, which overshadowed putative plant-related processes.
