TLDR
This sensitive chromogen system not only permits use of unusually small sample volumes, it also facilitates a linear response to serum triglyceride concentrations up to at least 10 g/L while displaying good Ringbom (measure of accuracy) characteristics.
Abstract
We describe an enzymatic method for rapid, precise measurement of serum triglycerides with use of sample:reagent ratios as large as 1:200. Hydrolysis of triglycerides is catalyzed by lipase to produce glycerol and free fatty acids. The glycerol generated is then phosphorylated by adenosine 5'-triphosphate in the presence of glycerol kinase. Oxidation of the resulting glycerol 3-phosphate to produce hydrogen peroxide is catalyzed by L-alpha-glycerophosphate oxidase. An intense red chromogen is produced by the peroxidase-catalyzed coupling of 4-aminoantipyrene and sodium 2-hydroxy-3,5-dichlorobenzenesulfonate with hydrogen peroxide. This sensitive chromogen system not only permits use of unusually small sample volumes, it also facilitates a linear response to serum triglyceride concentrations up to at least 10 g/L while displaying good Ringbom (measure of accuracy) characteristics.

Development of a normothermic extracorporeal liver perfusion system toward improving viability and function of human extended criteria donor livers.

TL;DR: Franzini et al. as discussed by the authors assessed coagulation factors and TG production during a procedure of extracorporeal normothermic perfusion that was conducted using a LiverAssist machine (Organ Assist, the Netherlands) on a liver procured from a 74year-old donor, that was eventually implanted in a male patient aged 53 years.

Association between erythrocyte Na+K+-ATPase activity and some blood lipids in type 1 diabetic patients from Lagos, Nigeria.

TL;DR: It can be concluded that poor glycemic control evokes greater reduction in erythrocyte Na+K+-ATPase activity and promote enzyme-blood atherogenic lipid relationships in Type 1 diabetic Nigerian patients.

Dietary fat and vitamin E have differential effects on serum lipid levels

TL;DR: The experiment was designed to study the effects of dietary fat and vitamin E on serum lipid status, an important indicator of risk for atherosclerosis, and found that serum vitamin E level was significantly greater in the corn oil group with 100 ppm vitamin E than in the lard group with 200 ppm.

Antihyperglycemic and lipid lowering activities of ethanolic extract of eriobotrya japonica seeds in alloxan induced diabetic rats

TL;DR: Ethanolic extract of EBJS is effective in controlling blood glucose levels and in improving lipid profile in diabetic rats and shows highly significant reduction in blood glucose and serum lipid profile levels in alloxan induced diabetic rats.

TL;DR: In this direct colorimetric procedure, serum triglycerides are hydrolyzed by lipase, and the released glycerol is assayed in a reaction catalyzed by glycersol kinase and L-alpha-glycerol-phosphate oxidase in a system that generates hydrogen peroxide.

Micromethod for the direct determination of serum triglycerides.

TL;DR: A microprocedure for the direct determination of triglyceride concentrations in biologic specimens is presented and depends on the quantitative removal of phosphatides from the sample and the subsequent determination of esterified glycerol.

TL;DR: A new direct colorimetric procedure for uric acid assay in serum or urine is described, utilizing a 3,5-dichloro-2-hydroxybenzene sulfonic acid/4-aminophenazone chromogenic system in the presence of horseradish peroxidase and uricase from Aspergillus flavus, affording useful results with sample/reagent volume ratios as low as 0.025.
