Carbon accounting framework for decarbonisation of European city neighbourhoods

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an optimized carbon accounting methodology to assess greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in specific urban environments and inform urban policies and design, which constitutes the framework of a "mediate model" with a dual role: to both assess the Carbon Footprint of urban neighbourhoods and to estimate the effects, in terms of carbon footprint mitigation, of action plans addressed to carbon neutrality.

Experimental and numerical investigation on a novel solar still with vertical ripple surface

TL;DR: In this article, a novel solar still with better performance was designed in the paper compared with the other vertical multi-effect diffusion-type solar still (VMEDS), the proposed one owns the following merits: (1) better reliability and anti-scale security due to that the saline-soaked wicks (porous) were replaced by water troughs on the vertical plate; (2) more compact structure, decreasing the heat loss and facilitating the operation.

An experimental investigation of composite phase change materials of ternary nitrate and expanded graphite for medium-temperature thermal energy storage

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the thermal properties of KNO3-Li NO3-Ca(NO3)2/expanded graphite (EG) composite phase change materials (PCMs) for medium-temperature thermal energy storage.

A novel MCFC hybrid power generation process using solar parabolic dish thermal energy

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel molten carbonate fuel cell hybrid power generation process with using solar parabolic dish thermal energy is proposed, which contains MCFC, Oxy-fuel and Rankine power generation cycles.

Performance assessment of USC power plants integrated with CCS and concentrating solar collectors

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluate the potential benefits arising from the integration of steam power plants with carbon capture and storage (CCS) and concentrating solar systems and report on a comparative performance analysis of different integrating approaches, based on the design of the solar field to produce low pressure saturated steam for the CCS solvent regeneration process and intermediate-pressure saturated and superheated steam for introducing the steam cycle.

Review on thermal energy storage with phase change materials and applications

TL;DR: The use of a latent heat storage system using phase change materials (PCMs) is an effective way of storing thermal energy and has the advantages of high energy storage density and the isothermal nature of the storage process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Review on thermal energy storage with phase change: materials, heat transfer analysis and applications

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the history of thermal energy storage with solid-liquid phase change has been carried out and three aspects have been the focus of this review: materials, heat transfer and applications.
Journal ArticleDOI

A review on phase change energy storage: materials and applications

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the phase change materials (PCM) and their application in energy storage is presented, where the main advantages of encapsulation are providing large heat transfer area, reduction of the PCMs reactivity towards the outside environment and controlling the changes in volume of the storage materials as phase change occurs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solar thermal collectors and applications

TL;DR: A survey of the various types of solar thermal collectors and applications is presented in this paper, where an analysis of the environmental problems related to the use of conventional sources of energy is presented and the benefits offered by renewable energy systems are outlined.
