Application of ultrasonic-assisted cloud point extraction/flame atomic absorption spectrometry (ua-cpe/faas) for preconcentration and determination of low levels of antimony in some beverage samples
Ramazan Gürkan,Merve Eser +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an ultrasonic assisted cloud point extraction method was developed for the preconcentration and determination of antimony as Sb(III) using 4-(2-thiazolylazo)resorcinol (TAR) and 2-(2 -thiazolazo)-p-cresol(TAC) as chelating agents and sodium dodecyl sulfate as signal enhancing agent at pH 6.0 and mediated by nonionic surfactant.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antimonate removal by diatomite modified with Fe-Mn oxides: application and mechanism study
TL;DR: Investigation showed that among different potential co-existing ions, fluoride can strongly inhibit the adsorption of antimonate at 5 mg/L under pH 4.5, indicating that fluoride is easier to bind with DFMO compared to antimonates, especially under pH 3.5 at which fluoride exists as HF.
Journal ArticleDOI
Complexation of HSA with different forms of antimony (Sb): An application of fluorescence spectroscopy
TL;DR: In this paper, the binding of three forms of Sb with HSA was investigated by excitation-emission matrix (EEM) spectroscopy, and the binding ability of HSA to complex Sb followed the order: antimony trichloride>potassium pyroantimonate>antimony potassium tartrate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Possibility of bacterial leaching of antimony, chromium, copper, manganese, nickel, and zinc from contaminated sediment
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented an investigation on bio-leaching of Sb from contaminated sediment which is collected in the vicinity of a Sb processing plant using the iron-oxidizer, Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans.
Journal ArticleDOI
Soil migration of antimony and arsenic facilitated by colloids in lysimeter studies.
TL;DR: Investigation of migration behaviors of antimony (Sb) and arsenic (As) in four representative soil materials from China confirmed that Sb was combined with Fe and Al in the solution, and As posed a greater environmental risk than Sb during the leaching process.

The composition of the continental crust
TL;DR: In this paper, a new calculation of the crustal composition is based on the proportions of upper crust (UC) to felsic lower crust (FLC) to mafic lower-crust (MLC) of about 1.6:0.4.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distribution of the Elements in Some Major Units of the Earth's Crust
Karl K. Turekian,K. H. Wedepohl +1 more
TL;DR: A table of abundances of the elements in the various major units of the Earth's lithic crust with a documentation of the sources and a discussion of the choice of units and data is presented in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantitative assessment of worldwide contamination of air, water and soils by trace metals
Jerome O. Nriagu,Jozef M. Pacyna +1 more
TL;DR: Calculated loading rates of trace metals into the three environmental compartments demonstrate that human activities now have major impacts on the global and regional cycles of most of the trace elements.
Book
Handbook on the toxicology of metals
TL;DR: Handbook of the Toxicology of Metals as discussed by the authors is the standard reference work for physicians, toxicologists and engineers in the field of environmental and occupational health, which is a comprehensive review of the effects on biological systems from metallic elements and compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Abundance of chemical elements in the continental crust: a new table
TL;DR: In this article, a table of element abundances in the continental crust, calculated on the basis of a 1:1 mixture of granite and basalt abundances, is presented.
