Global Warming Increases the Incidence of Haze Days in China
Bing Xu,Bing Xu,Zhaoyan Gu,Zhaoyan Gu,Luo Wang,Qingzhen Hao,Haizhi Wang,Guoqiang Chu,Yanwu Lv,Dabang Jiang +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the first long-term (last 180 years) lake sediment records of changes in wind strength and atmospheric loading of anthropogenic emissions in China, and show that the atmospheric loading and haze formation are closely related to the changes in winds associated with temperature changes, which are likely forced by tropical sea surface temperature.
Book ChapterDOI
Adsorption Technology for Removal of Toxic Pollutants
TL;DR: A review of over 240 published studies (1982-2016) shows an exhaustive list of adsorbents in the literature, including chitosan, fly ash, used tyre rubber, wood char, rice husk, aluminosilicates, etc.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chromatographic purification of antimony for accurate isotope analysis by MC-ICP-MS
Jianfeng Liu,Jiubin Chen,Ting Zhang,Yi-Na Wang,Wei Yuan,Yunchao Lang,Chenglong Tu,Liangzhi Liu,Jean-Louis Birck +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a two-step method for purifying antimony (Sb) from geological samples for accurate measurement of Sb isotopic composition using multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS) was developed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mercury contamination in commercial fresh and salt water fish of the Zabol Chahnimeh reservoirs and the Gulf of Oman (Iran)
TL;DR: Generally, mercury levels in the analysed fish samples were higher than WHO, FDA and US-EPA legal limits.

The composition of the continental crust
TL;DR: In this paper, a new calculation of the crustal composition is based on the proportions of upper crust (UC) to felsic lower crust (FLC) to mafic lower-crust (MLC) of about 1.6:0.4.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distribution of the Elements in Some Major Units of the Earth's Crust
Karl K. Turekian,K. H. Wedepohl +1 more
TL;DR: A table of abundances of the elements in the various major units of the Earth's lithic crust with a documentation of the sources and a discussion of the choice of units and data is presented in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantitative assessment of worldwide contamination of air, water and soils by trace metals
Jerome O. Nriagu,Jozef M. Pacyna +1 more
TL;DR: Calculated loading rates of trace metals into the three environmental compartments demonstrate that human activities now have major impacts on the global and regional cycles of most of the trace elements.
Book
Handbook on the toxicology of metals
TL;DR: Handbook of the Toxicology of Metals as discussed by the authors is the standard reference work for physicians, toxicologists and engineers in the field of environmental and occupational health, which is a comprehensive review of the effects on biological systems from metallic elements and compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Abundance of chemical elements in the continental crust: a new table
TL;DR: In this article, a table of element abundances in the continental crust, calculated on the basis of a 1:1 mixture of granite and basalt abundances, is presented.
