Antimony removal from wastewater by sulfate-reducing bacteria in a bench-scale upflow anaerobic packed-bed reactor

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the transformation and precipitation of aqueous Sb, as well as the re-dissolution of Sb2S3 under different pH and carbon sources.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Water Chemistry on Antimony Removal by Chemical Coagulation: Implications of ζ-Potential and Size of Precipitates.

TL;DR: The results indicated that the amount of Sb(III) removed increased with increasing solution pH, show the insignificant effects of the hydrodynamic diameter (HDD) and ζ-potential of the precipitates, and may provide critical information to a wide group of researchers dealing with environmental protection from heavy metal pollution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antimony and arsenic biogeochemistry in the East China Sea

TL;DR: The biogeochemical cycles of the metalloid elements arsenic and antimony in the East China Sea (ECS), one of the most important marginal seas for western Pacific, were examined in May 2011 as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of mechanical disturbance and acidification on the metal(loid) and C, P, S mobility at the sediment water interface examined using a fractionation meso profiling ICP-QQQ-MS approach.

TL;DR: Simultaneous quantification of all analytes by inductively coupled plasma-triple quad-mass spectrometry in the two different size classes dissolved showed the predominant influence of the pH on the Mobility of metals and the mobility of metalloids was strongly impacted by the mechanical disturbance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Speciation of Antimony(III) and Antimony(V) in Bottled Water by Hydride Generation-Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry

TL;DR: In this paper, a continuous flow system using a homemade gas-liquid separator with inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry was employed for the determination of Sb(III and total Sb in bottled drinking water, and recovery values between 82.0 and 98.8% with relative standard deviation lower than 6.2% were observed, demonstrating appropriate accuracy and precision.

The composition of the continental crust

TL;DR: In this paper, a new calculation of the crustal composition is based on the proportions of upper crust (UC) to felsic lower crust (FLC) to mafic lower-crust (MLC) of about 1.6:0.4.
Journal ArticleDOI

Distribution of the Elements in Some Major Units of the Earth's Crust

TL;DR: A table of abundances of the elements in the various major units of the Earth's lithic crust with a documentation of the sources and a discussion of the choice of units and data is presented in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quantitative assessment of worldwide contamination of air, water and soils by trace metals

TL;DR: Calculated loading rates of trace metals into the three environmental compartments demonstrate that human activities now have major impacts on the global and regional cycles of most of the trace elements.

Handbook on the toxicology of metals

TL;DR: Handbook of the Toxicology of Metals as discussed by the authors is the standard reference work for physicians, toxicologists and engineers in the field of environmental and occupational health, which is a comprehensive review of the effects on biological systems from metallic elements and compounds.
