In this contribution the transmission of M-PSK and M-QAM modulated orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) signals over an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel is considered and the degradation of the bit error rate is evaluated.
Abstract
In this contribution the transmission of M-PSK and M-QAM modulated orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) signals over an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel is considered. The degradation of the bit error rate (BER), caused by the presence of carrier frequency offset and carrier phase noise is analytically evaluated. It is shown that for a given BER degradation, the values of the frequency offset and the linewidth of the carrier generator that are allowed for OFDM are orders of magnitude smaller than for single carrier systems carrying the same bit rate. >

Blind Maximum Likelihood Carrier Frequency Offset Estimation for OFDM With Multi-Antenna Receiver

TL;DR: Based on the maximum likelihood (ML) criterion, a blind carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation method for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) with multi-antenna receiver is proposed, which can achieve the Cramér-Rao bound under the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) region.

Joint Turbo Frequency Domain Equalization and Carrier Synchronization

TL;DR: This paper proposes a joint turbo equalization and synchronization method in which the feedback information, generated iteratively by the decoder, is used for synchronization, and suggests two methods based on different criteria when the system suffers from only frequency offset.

V-OFDM: On Performance Limits over Multi-Path Rayleigh Fading Channels

TL;DR: An analytical study of V-OFDM over multi-path fading channels concludes that it is preferable to choose the length of VBs to be equal to the number of channel taps in consideration of both overall system performance and computational complexity.

The effect of interpolation on the BER performance of narrowband BPSK and (O)QPSK on Rician-fading channels

TL;DR: By means of theoretical analysis, it is demonstrated that even simple interpolators, operating at only a few samples per symbol, yield BER degradations that are limited to a small fraction of a dB.

Digital HDTV broadcasting over the CATV distribution system

TL;DR: This contribution deals with the digital broadcasting of HDTV channels over the cable television (CATV) distribution system, using either single-carrier QAM or an orthogonal frequency division multiplex of many QAM carriers to represent an HDTV channel.
