Distribution and population genetic structure of river‐ and sea‐type sockeye salmon in western North America
R. G. Gustafson,G. A. Winans +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors found published and unpublished records showing that riverine-spawning sockeye salmon occur in 11 rivers in western Washington, USA, that don't have access to juvenile lake-rearing habitat.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microsatellite diversity in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) introduced to Western Australia
TL;DR: Variation in 10 microsatellite loci in four populations of rainbow trout from Western Australia and North America was examined, finding loss of variation is attributable to about 100 years of isolation and genetic drift.
Journal ArticleDOI
Patterns of dispersal and larval development of archaeogastropod limpets at hydrothermal vents in the eastern Pacific
TL;DR: Patterns of dispersal and larval development were examined in four species of archaeogastropod limpets from hydrothermal vents along the northern East Pacific Rise and Galapagos Rift, suggesting that all four species possess nonplanktotrophic modes of development which may limit long-distance dispersal capabilities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phylogenetic relationships in bearded manakins (pipridae: manacus) indicate that male plumage color is a misleading taxonomic marker
TL;DR: Electrophoretic data for two populations of each of the four forms plus seven outgroup piprid taxa were collected from 32 isozyme loci and used to infer phylogenetic relationships, confirming that gold plumage is a derived state in M. vitellinus and indicating that male plumage color is an unreliable taxonomic marker.
