Differential patterns of hybridization and introgression between the swallowtails Papilio machaon and P. hospiton from Sardinia and Corsica islands (Lepidoptera, Papilionidae)

TL;DR: The low levels of introgression at sex‐linked loci and mitochondrial DNA are in agreement with Haldane's rule and suggest that introgressive hybridization in P. machaon proceeds mainly through males, owing to a lower fitness of hybrid females.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reticulate Evolution in the Polypodium vulgare Complex

TL;DR: The phylogenetic distribution of "sporangiasters" confirmed earlier hypotheses concerning the development of these novel structures from sporangial initials, and Revised phylogenetic hypotheses were used to extrapolate patterns of char- acter evolution with greater precision.
Journal ArticleDOI

Levels of genetic diversity at different stages of the domestication cycle of interior spruce in British Columbia

TL;DR: Genetic diversity assessments in a breeding zone the Province of British Columbia “interior” spruce (Picea glauca × engelmanni) program was conducted using allozyme markers found that roguing was associated with a reduction in the average number of alleles per locus, however, roguing did not drastically reduce He.

Allozyme evidence for genetic autopolyploidy and high genetic diversity in tetraploid cranberry, Vaccinium oxycoccos (Ericaceae)

TL;DR: In this paper, 19 isoenzyme loci were studied in diploid and tetraploid populations of Vaccinium oxycoccos (Ericaceae), and the results are compared with data previously reported for the related V. macrocarpon.
