Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of Differentiation Pattern at Allozyme and Microsatellite Loci in Parnassius Mnemosyne (Lepidoptera) Populations

TL;DR: The use of dry samples of museum collections in microsatellite analyses enabled us to study changes in allele frequencies over time in a small, isolated population, and the results supported the earlier finding with allozymes that the small populations have been subject to strong genetic drift.
Journal ArticleDOI

Differential survival of fathead minnows, Pimephales promelas, as affected by copper exposure, prior population stress, and allozyme genotypes

TL;DR: It is indicated that genetic factors may exhibit stronger effects on survivorship than other factors (e.g., weight/body condition) commonly associated with fitness.
Book ChapterDOI

Using Molecular Genetics to Learn About the Ecology of Threatened Species: The Allure and The Illusion of Measuring Genetic Structure In Natural Populations

TL;DR: Recent technological advances in molecular population genetics have greatly reduced the cost and simultaneously increased the ease of field genetic studies, allowing amplification of DNA from tiny skin biopsies, individual hairs, or even scat.
Journal ArticleDOI

The mammalian model for population studies of B chromosomes: the wood mouse (Apodemus).

TL;DR: No measurable effect of Bs on overall genetic variability was thus revealed in studied populations, and both the parasitic and the heterotic models can be applied to explain the maintenance ofBs in different populations.
