The assembly of ‘normal’ galaxies at z ∼ 7 probed by ALMA

TL;DR: In this article, the Atacama Large Millimetre Array (ALMA) was used to investigate the (C II)158µm line and continuum emission in three spectroscopically confirmed Lyman breakgalaxies at 6.8
Journal ArticleDOI

On the (cii)-sfr relation in high redshift galaxies

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the Vallini et al. 2013 (V13) model, based on high-resolution, radiative transfer cosmological simulations to predict the [CII] emission from the interstellar medium of a z~7 (halo mass $M_h=1.17\times10^{11}M_{\odot}$) galaxy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rotation in [C ii ]-emitting gas in two galaxies at a redshift of 6.8

TL;DR: The luminous and extended [C ii] lines reveal clear velocity gradients that, if interpreted as rotation, would indicate that these galaxies have similar dynamic properties to the turbulent yet rotation-dominated disks that have been observed in Hα-emitting galaxies two billion years later, at ‘cosmic noon’.

Planck 2013 results. XVI. Cosmological parameters

Peter A. R. Ade, +327 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the first cosmological results based on Planck measurements of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature and lensing-potential power spectra, which are extremely well described by the standard spatially-flat six-parameter ΛCDM cosmology with a power-law spectrum of adiabatic scalar perturbations.

Planck 2013 results. XVI. Cosmological parameters

Peter A. R. Ade, +262 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the first results based on Planck measurements of the CMB temperature and lensing-potential power spectra, which are extremely well described by the standard spatially-flat six-parameter LCDM cosmology.

Cosmic-Ray Rejection by Laplacian Edge Detection

TL;DR: In this paper, a robust algorithm for cosmic-ray rejection, based on a variation of Laplacian edge detection, was proposed, which identifies cosmic rays of arbitrary shapes and sizes by the sharpness of their edges.

Cool Gas in High-Redshift Galaxies

TL;DR: In the last decade, observations of the cool interstellar medium (ISM) in distant galaxies via molecular and atomic fine structure line (FSL) emission have gone from a curious look into a few extreme, rare objects to a mainstream tool for studying galaxy formation out to the highest redshifts as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mapping Large-Scale Gaseous Outflows in Ultraluminous Galaxies with Keck II ESI Spectra: Variations in Outflow Velocity with Galactic Mass

TL;DR: In this article, the dependence of galactic outflow speeds on starburst luminosity and galactic mass has been investigated in 18 ultraluminous infrared galaxies (ULIGs) using Doppler shifts.
