Enzymic determination of uracil nucleotides in tissues.
TLDR
An enzymic assay for the sequential determination of UDP-glucose, UDP-galactose, UTP, UDP, and 5′-UMP in tissues is described, which uses commercially available enzymes and is highly reproducible, with standard deviations of less than 2%.About:

Function of the N-Terminal Cap of the PAS Domain in Signaling by the Aerotaxis Receptor Aer
TL;DR: Large multimers of Aer are observed when cross-linking of N-cap residues with a cysteine replacement that cross-links exclusively at the Aer dimer interface, which suggests that the PAS N- cap faces outwards in a dimer and that PAS-PAS contacts can occur between adjacent dimers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of signaling pathways of P2Y and P2U purinoceptors in bovine pulmonary artery endothelial cells.
TL;DR: The results suggest that both P2Y and P2U purinoceptors are expressed in bovine pulmonary artery endothelial cells and are coupled to phospholipase C (PLC) activation and Ca2+ mobilization through pertussis toxininsensitive G proteins.

Critique of the Assay and Significance of Bilirubin Conjugation
TL;DR: This chapter describes the methodology and properties of uridine diphosphate (UDP)-glucuronyltransferase and of the related UDP-glycosyltransferase activities and delineates the applications to human disease.

Galactose and glucose metabolism in the isolated perfused suckling and adult rat liver.
Wallace F. Berman,Wallace F. Berman,Shirley Rogers,Shirley Rogers,Jesusa O. Bautista,Jesusa O. Bautista,Stanton Segal,Stanton Segal +7 more
TL;DR: Galactose perfused livers of the suckling and adult contained significantly more uridine-5'-diphosphogalactose than the glucose perfusedLivers of each age, which resulted in glucose levels in young liver being higher than the media; while in the adult, the level was lower than theMedia.

Metabolism of galactose in the brain and liver of rats and its conversion into glutamate and other amino acids
TL;DR: An important feature lies in the demonstration that galactose and glucose are metabolized to amino acids and that the only increases observed in the brain appear in the concentrations of glutamate, glutamine, GABA measured after acute Galactose loads.

Experimental hepatitis induced by d-galactosamine
TL;DR: Repeated intraperitoneal injections of d-galactosamine produce within 24–48 hours in rat livers alterations that closely resemble human viral hepatitis, indicating a high specificity of d -galactoamine.

The enzymatic transformation of uridine diphosphate glucose into a galactose derivative
TL;DR: It is concluded that the compound found with treatment of UDPG with an enzyme of S. fragilis is uridine diphosphate galactose, and the bearing of this finding on the mechanism of action of UDPG is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation of the coenzyme of the galactose phosphate-glucose phosphate transformation.
TL;DR: In the initial studies (5) it was found that a thermostable factor was required in the over-all Reactions II and III, which led eventually to the discovery and isolation of glucose diphosphate, which acts as a coenzyme in Reaction III.
