Enzymic determination of uracil nucleotides in tissues.
TLDR
An enzymic assay for the sequential determination of UDP-glucose, UDP-galactose, UTP, UDP, and 5′-UMP in tissues is described, which uses commercially available enzymes and is highly reproducible, with standard deviations of less than 2%.About:

ATP‐evoked inositol phosphates formation through activation of P2U purinergic receptors in cultured astrocytes: Regulation by PKC subtypes α, δ, and θ
Ching C. Chen,Wei C. Chen +1 more
TL;DR: Results suggested that PKCα, −δ, and −θ, but not −η may exert tonic inhibition on P2U receptor‐mediated PI turnover in unstimulated astrocytes.

Activation of nucleotide receptors inhibits M-type K current [IK(M)] in neuroblastoma x glioma hybrid cells.
TL;DR: A phospholipase-C-linked nucleotide receptor, sensitive to both uridine and adenosine triphosphate (UTP and ATP) has been cloned from NG108-15 neuroblastoma × glioma hybrid cells and activation of this receptor could inhibit the voltage-dependent K+ current in cells recorded using whole-cell patch-clamp methods.

Hepatotoxicity of d-Galactosamine in the isolated perfused rat liver☆
TL;DR: The leakage of intracellular enzymes into the perfusion medium was small and almost linear in controls; in livers treated with d -galactosamine, however, a sharp increase occurred after 6 hr, whereas the sum of all acid-soluble uracil nucleotides increased linearly for the first 8 hr.

The stable pyrimidines UDPbetaS and UTPgammaS discriminate between contractile cerebrovascular P2 receptors.
TL;DR: It is concluded that extracellular nucleotides induce contractions of cerebral arteries primarily by activation of P2Y(6) receptors on smooth muscle cells, with a lesser contribution of P 2Y(2) and P2X(1) receptors.

Activity and distribution of the enzymes of uridylate synthesis from orotate in animal tissues
TL;DR: Under a variety of conditions, including fast growing tissues, OMP pyrophosphorylase and OMP decarboxylase showed closely parallel, possibly coordinate changes in activity.

Experimental hepatitis induced by d-galactosamine
TL;DR: Repeated intraperitoneal injections of d-galactosamine produce within 24–48 hours in rat livers alterations that closely resemble human viral hepatitis, indicating a high specificity of d -galactoamine.

The enzymatic transformation of uridine diphosphate glucose into a galactose derivative
TL;DR: It is concluded that the compound found with treatment of UDPG with an enzyme of S. fragilis is uridine diphosphate galactose, and the bearing of this finding on the mechanism of action of UDPG is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation of the coenzyme of the galactose phosphate-glucose phosphate transformation.
TL;DR: In the initial studies (5) it was found that a thermostable factor was required in the over-all Reactions II and III, which led eventually to the discovery and isolation of glucose diphosphate, which acts as a coenzyme in Reaction III.
