TLDR
In this paper, a roughness-viscosity model was proposed to interpret the experimental data and the results indicated significant departure of flow characteristics from the predictions of the conventional theory for microtubes with smaller diameters.

Heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of a horizontal annular passage in the transitional flow regime

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors performed experiments on the annular passage of a horizontal concentric counterflow tube-in-tube heat exchanger operated with water for non-fully developed flow associated with a standard inlet geometry type.

The study of micro scale effects in continuum flows with an experimental set-up with a continuously decreasing characteristic length

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors designed an experimental set-up with a slender cone (cone angle 14°) imbedded in a sleeve as the geometrical counter part to find out at which length scale Lc micro effects occur.

Effects of surface roughness on the stability and dynamics of microtubes conveying internal fluid

TL;DR: In this paper, a theoretical model is presented to describe the dynamic behaviors of rough microtubes by introducing correction factors, which account for the effects of the surface roughness both on the structure and the internal fluid.

Boundary layer theory

TL;DR: The flow laws of the actual flows at high Reynolds numbers differ considerably from those of the laminar flows treated in the preceding part, denoted as turbulence as discussed by the authors, and the actual flow is very different from that of the Poiseuille flow.

Measurement of friction factors for the flow of gases in very fine channels used for microminiature Joule-Thomson refrigerators

TL;DR: In this article, the friction factors for the flow of gases in the fine channels used for microminiature Joule-Thomson refrigerators have been measured using a photolithographic technique.

Experimental Investigation on Liquid Forced-Convection Heat-Transfer Through Microchannels

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the single-phase forced-flow convection of water or methanol flowing through microchannels with rectangular cross-section and found that the fully developed turbulent convection regime was initiated at about Re = 1000-1500.

Frictional flow characteristics of water flowing through rectangular microchannels

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the flow characteristics of water flowing through rectangular microchannels having hydraulic diameters of 0.133-0.367 mm and H/W ratios between 0.333-1.72i.
