TLDR
In this paper, a roughness-viscosity model was proposed to interpret the experimental data and the results indicated significant departure of flow characteristics from the predictions of the conventional theory for microtubes with smaller diameters.

Surface roughness analysis and improvement of PMMA-based microfluidic chip chambers by CO2 laser cutting

TL;DR: In this article, the surface roughness of a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)-based microfluidic chip was studied by a noncontact 3D surface profiler.

Hotspot thermal management using a microchannel-pinfin hybrid heat sink

TL;DR: In this article, an energy-efficient micro heat sink was proposed for thermal management of microprocessors with heterogeneous power distributions, where rectangular microchannels were used over the low heat-flux zone (background area), and an array of cylindrical pinfins were incorporated over the high heat-fluid zone (hotspot area) of the heat sink.

Single phase flow pressure drop and heat transfer in rectangular metallic microchannels

TL;DR: In this article, numerical simulations were performed using Fluent 14.5 to investigate single phase flow and conjugate heat transfer in copper rectangular microchannels in 3D thin-wall models.

A fractal analysis of laminar flow resistance in roughened microchannels

TL;DR: In this paper, the fractal geometry theory and method are used to simulate the rough surface topography, and the pressure gradients, friction factors and Poiseuille numbers for laminar flow through microchannels with roughened surfaces are derived.

Boundary layer theory

TL;DR: The flow laws of the actual flows at high Reynolds numbers differ considerably from those of the laminar flows treated in the preceding part, denoted as turbulence as discussed by the authors, and the actual flow is very different from that of the Poiseuille flow.

Measurement of friction factors for the flow of gases in very fine channels used for microminiature Joule-Thomson refrigerators

TL;DR: In this article, the friction factors for the flow of gases in the fine channels used for microminiature Joule-Thomson refrigerators have been measured using a photolithographic technique.

Experimental Investigation on Liquid Forced-Convection Heat-Transfer Through Microchannels

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the single-phase forced-flow convection of water or methanol flowing through microchannels with rectangular cross-section and found that the fully developed turbulent convection regime was initiated at about Re = 1000-1500.
