TLDR
In this paper, a roughness-viscosity model was proposed to interpret the experimental data and the results indicated significant departure of flow characteristics from the predictions of the conventional theory for microtubes with smaller diameters.

Single-Phase and Boiling Flow in Microchannels with High Heat Flux

Elmer Galvis
TL;DR: In this article, a cooling system for high heat flux applications is examined using microchannel evaporators with water as the working fluid and boiling as the heat transfer mechanism, and flow patterns associated with a range of boundary conditions are characterized and then presented in the form of novel flow regime maps that intrinsically reflect the physical mechanisms controlling two-phase pressure distributions and heat transfer behavior.

Influence of Thermo-Physical Properties on the Flow and Heat Transfer in Rectangular Micro-Channels

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the behavior of flow and heat transfer of single-phase in rectangular micro-channels with three-dimensional numerical analysis and found that the influence of viscosity variation with temperature and viscous dissipation effect could be too significant to be neglected.

Boundary layer theory

TL;DR: The flow laws of the actual flows at high Reynolds numbers differ considerably from those of the laminar flows treated in the preceding part, denoted as turbulence as discussed by the authors, and the actual flow is very different from that of the Poiseuille flow.

Measurement of friction factors for the flow of gases in very fine channels used for microminiature Joule-Thomson refrigerators

TL;DR: In this article, the friction factors for the flow of gases in the fine channels used for microminiature Joule-Thomson refrigerators have been measured using a photolithographic technique.

Experimental Investigation on Liquid Forced-Convection Heat-Transfer Through Microchannels

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the single-phase forced-flow convection of water or methanol flowing through microchannels with rectangular cross-section and found that the fully developed turbulent convection regime was initiated at about Re = 1000-1500.
Journal ArticleDOI

Frictional flow characteristics of water flowing through rectangular microchannels

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the flow characteristics of water flowing through rectangular microchannels having hydraulic diameters of 0.133-0.367 mm and H/W ratios between 0.333-1.72i.
