TLDR
In this paper, a roughness-viscosity model was proposed to interpret the experimental data and the results indicated significant departure of flow characteristics from the predictions of the conventional theory for microtubes with smaller diameters.

Modeling heat transfer and liquid flow in micro-channels

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a critical review of different hypotheses advanced in the literature to explain the behavior of micro-channel fluid flow and heat transfer in high speed electronic circuits.
Journal ArticleDOI

An experimental study on the pressure drop and heat transfer through straight and curved small diameter tubes

TL;DR: In this article, an analytic model to determine the pressure loss through curved tubes, referred to as the modified friction factor, is proposed, thus confirming the suitability of this model for determining pressure losses for different shape of tubes for different heat exchanger types.
Journal ArticleDOI

Momentum transport and laminar friction in rough-wall duct flows

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present results from two-dimensional Lattice-Boltzmann simulations of laminar flows in channels with rough walls and propose a formula which predicts the shear stress partitioning and discuss its relevance within the context of biomedical applications.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characteristics of Liquid Flow in Microchannels at very Low Reynolds Numbers

TL;DR: In this paper, the flow characteristics of deionized water and kerosene through smooth rectangular microchannels with varying hydraulic diameters are studied experimentally, and the experimental results agree well with the classical hydrodynamic theory.

Boundary layer theory

TL;DR: The flow laws of the actual flows at high Reynolds numbers differ considerably from those of the laminar flows treated in the preceding part, denoted as turbulence as discussed by the authors, and the actual flow is very different from that of the Poiseuille flow.

Measurement of friction factors for the flow of gases in very fine channels used for microminiature Joule-Thomson refrigerators

TL;DR: In this article, the friction factors for the flow of gases in the fine channels used for microminiature Joule-Thomson refrigerators have been measured using a photolithographic technique.

Experimental Investigation on Liquid Forced-Convection Heat-Transfer Through Microchannels

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the single-phase forced-flow convection of water or methanol flowing through microchannels with rectangular cross-section and found that the fully developed turbulent convection regime was initiated at about Re = 1000-1500.

Frictional flow characteristics of water flowing through rectangular microchannels

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the flow characteristics of water flowing through rectangular microchannels having hydraulic diameters of 0.133-0.367 mm and H/W ratios between 0.333-1.72i.
