TLDR
A policy of labour induction was associated with fewer perinatal deaths and a corresponding marginal increase in operative vaginal births with induction compared with a policy of awaiting spontaneous onset of labour (expectant management).Abstract:

Can available interventions end preventable deaths in mothers, newborn babies, and stillbirths, and at what cost?
Zulfiqar A Bhutta,Jai K Das,Rajiv Bahl,Joy E Lawn,Joy E Lawn,Rehana A Salam,Vinod K. Paul,M. Jeeva Sankar,Hannah Blencowe,Arjumand Rizvi,Victoria B Chou,Neff Walker +11 more
TL;DR: The analysis indicates that available interventions can reduce the three most common cause of neonatal mortality--preterm, intrapartum, and infection-related deaths--by 58, 79, and 84%, respectively.

TL;DR: In high-income countries, a woman living under adverse socioeconomic circumstances has twice the risk of having a stillborn child when compared to her more advantaged counterparts and programs at community and country level need to improve health in disadvantaged families.

TL;DR: The present variation in stillbirth rates across and within high-income countries indicates that further reduction inStillbirth is possible, and international consensus on definition and classification related to stillbirth is a priority.

TL;DR: The most current literature is reviewed to provide evidence-based recommendations to obstetrical care providers on induction of labour and appropriate timing and method of induction, appropriate mode of delivery, and optimal maternal and perinatal outcomes.

Ultrasound for fetal assessment in early pregnancy
TL;DR: Routine ultrasound improves the early detection of multiple pregnancies and improved gestational dating may result in fewer inductions for post maturity, and long-term follow-up of children exposed to scan in utero does not indicate that scans have a detrimental effect on children's physical or cognitive development.

Vaginal misoprostol for cervical ripening and induction of labour
TL;DR: Vaginal misoprostol labour induction was associated with less epidural analgesia use, fewer failures to achieve vaginal delivery within 24 hours and more uterine hyperstimulation.

Induction of labor as compared with serial antenatal monitoring in post-term pregnancy. A randomized controlled trial. The Canadian Multicenter Post-term Pregnancy Trial Group.
Mary E. Hannah,Walter J. Hannah,Jonathan Hellmann,Sheila Hewson,Ruth Milner,Andrew R. Willan +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, women were randomly assigned to undergo induction of labor or to have serial antenatal monitoring and spontaneous labor unless there was evidence of fetal or maternal compromise, in which case labor was induced or cesarean section was performed.

Prolonged pregnancy: evaluating gestation‐specific risks of fetal and infant mortality
TL;DR: The objective was to evaluate gestation‐specific risks of stillbirth, neonatal and post‐neonatal mortality in pregnant women and to establish a baseline level of confidence in the results.
