A study on thermal conductivity of six unexplored Nigerian clays for possible refractory and insulating materials

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate six unexplored Nigerian clay based on the suitability of their chemical, physical, mechanical and thermal properties as refractories, and the overall experiment results are within the range of ASTM============standards and illustrate that all of the clay is potentially a refractory material.

Experimental testing and analysis of R134a clathrates based PCMs for cooling applications

TL;DR: In this article, phase change materials (PCMs) are formed using R134a clathrate and distilled water with different refrigerant proportions and five different additives, including ethanol, sodium chloride, magnesium nitrate hexahydrate, copper and aluminum.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preparation and thermal performance of a novel alloy microencapsulated phase change material (MEPCM)/ceramic composite

TL;DR: In this paper , a double-layer coating, sacrificing inner layer was constructed to accommodate volume expansion of phase change material (PCM) and its thermal performance was studied. And the results showed that the higher the proportion of MEPCM, the better the thermal performance of the MePCM/ceramic composite.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical investigation of enhancement in melting process of PCM by using internal fins

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of using innovative tube shape, in which internal fin had been added to HTF tube, in melting process in cylindrical container had been investigated.

Thermal energy storage using sodium sulfate decahydrate and water

Dipak R. Biswas
- 01 Jan 1977 -
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the major problem preventing use of sodium sulfate decahydrate for thermal energy storage can be avoided by using the composition which is at or slightly to the water-rich side of the invariant point in the phase diagram.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thermal energy storage for solar heating and off-peak air conditioning

TL;DR: Parametric designs for two latent heat materials (sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate and a paraffin wax) and for a sensible heat material (a 1:1 mixture of water and ethylene glycol) were compared as to cost, performance, and space requirements.
Journal ArticleDOI

An investigation of the thermal energy storage capacity of Glauber's salt with respect to thermal cycling

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared the thermal energy storage capacity of the unthickened mixture to the thickened mixture as a function of thermal cycling and showed a significant improvement in performance of the thinnened mixture over that of the Glauber's salt and borax mixture.
