Biomonitorization of cadmium, chromium, manganese, nickel and lead in whole blood, urine, axillary hair and saliva in an occupationally exposed population.

TL;DR: The lifetime working experience was inversely correlated with their hair levels, and blood and urine median concentrations found for the five metals analyzed do not exceed biological exposure indexes, so that they are very similar to a non-occupationally exposed population.
Journal ArticleDOI

Heavy metals (lead, cadmium and mercury) in maternal, cord blood and placenta of healthy women

TL;DR: A substantial exposure to heavy metals in non-occupationally exposed Saudi mothers and their newborns that might jeopardize the health of both mothers and newborns is revealed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Human exposure to toxic metals via contaminated dust: Bio-accumulation trends and their potential risk estimation.

TL;DR: Bioaccumulation patterns showed that dust exposure is one of the major routes into human body for Cd, Pb, Co, Mn and Cr, while the burden of Zn, Cu, and Ni can be more linked to dietary sources.
Journal ArticleDOI

Detection of gluten immunogenic peptides in the urine of patients with coeliac disease reveals transgressions in the gluten-free diet and incomplete mucosal healing

TL;DR: GIP are detected in urine after gluten consumption, enabling a new and non-invasive method to monitor GFD compliance and transgressions and was convenient for clinical monitoring of patients with CD as well as for basic and clinical research applications including drug development.

An overview of brominated flame retardants in the environment.

TL;DR: In this paper, the current state of knowledge is reviewed and areas for further research recommended to improve future monitoring and risk assessment efforts, and the authors suggest that the occurrence of high concentrations of certain PBDE isomers may be sufficient to elicit adverse effects in some wildlife.
Journal ArticleDOI

Urinary creatinine concentrations in the U.S. population: implications for urinary biologic monitoring measurements.

TL;DR: The normal range of urinary creatinine concentrations among various demographic groups are documented, the impact that variations in creatinin concentrations can have on classifying exposure status of individuals in epidemiologic studies are evaluated, and an approach using multiple regression to adjust for variations in Creatinine in multivariate analyses is recommended.
Journal ArticleDOI

Urinary levels of seven phthalate metabolites in the U.S. population from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 1999-2000.

TL;DR: For example, this article measured the urinary monoester metabolites of seven commonly used phthalates in approximately 2,540 samples collected from participants of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), 1999-2000, who were greater than or equal to 6 years of age.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Diagnostic Applications of Saliva— A Review:

TL;DR: Analysis of saliva may be useful for the diagnosis of hereditary disorders, autoimmune diseases, malignant and infectious diseases, and endocrine disorders, as well as in the assessment of therapeutic levels of drugs and the monitoring of illicit drug use.
Journal ArticleDOI

Certain organochlorine and organobromine contaminants in Swedish human milk in perspective of past 20–30 years

TL;DR: The accumulation and ongoing increase in the levels of PBDEs calls for immediate measures to stop the environmental pollution and human exposure toPBDEs.
