Observation of Ultra-narrow Electromagnetically Induced Transparency and Slow Light using Purely Electronic Spins in a Hot Atomic Vapor

TLDR
In this article, the EIT windows were obtained for purely electronic spins in the presence of Doppler broadening and the positive role of collisions was emphasized through measurements of the power dependence of EIT resonance.
Abstract
Electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) is observed in gaseous 4He at room temperature. Ultra-narrow (less than 10 kHz) EIT windows are obtained for the first time for purely electronic spins in the presence of Doppler broadening. The positive role of collisions is emphasized through measurements of the power dependence of the EIT resonance. Measurement of slow light opens up possible ways to applications.

Quantum properties of light propagating in a coherent-population-oscillation storage medium

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the propagation and storage of a quantum field using ultranarrow coherent population oscillations (CPOs) in a type atomic medium and derived the evolution of its squeezing spectrum in the presence of a large classical pump field.

Optically Tunable Gratings Based on Coherent Population Oscillation.

TL;DR: It is shown that different intensities of the control field lead to three types of reflection profile which actually correspond to different absorption/amplification features of the medium, which could have promising applications in nonlinear optics and all-optical information processing.

Tunable all-optical delays via Brillouin slow light in an optical fiber.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that stimulated Brillouin scattering can be used to generate all-optical slow-light pulse delays of greater than a pulse length for pulses as short as 16 ns in a single-mode fiber, and strongly suggest that analogous delays can be achieved using stimulated Raman scattering at telecommunication data rates.

Observation of ultraslow and stored light pulses in a solid.

TL;DR: Low group velocities of light in an optically dense crystal of Pr doped Y2SiO5 are reported by using a sharp spectral feature in absorption and dispersion that is produced by resonance Raman excitation of a ground-state spin coherence.

Electromagnetically induced transparency: Propagation dynamics.

TL;DR: The first experimental studies of the temporal dynamics and spatial behavior of propagating EIT pulses are reported, including the observation of nearly diffractionlimited beam transmission in a medium which, without the coupling laser present, is nearly optically impenetrable.
