TLDR
Twenty-one antibiotics were found in the sewage sludge from the two WWTPs at the concentrations up to 5800ng/g, with tetracycline, oxytetracy Cline, norfloxacin and ofloxacIn being the predominant antibiotics.About:

Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of a wide variety of human and veterinary fluoroquinolone antibiotics in municipal wastewater and wastewater-impacted surface water
TL;DR: The total mass concentration of fluoroquinolones in raw wastewater was in the range that inhibited E. coli growth, suggesting that concerns over antibiotic presence in wastewater and wastewater-impacted surface water are valid and the removal efficiency for fluoroquolones was found to be negatively correlated to biochemical oxygen demand removal and positively correlated to phosphorus removal.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fate and mass balance of bisphenol analogues in wastewater treatment plants in Xiamen City, China ☆
Qian Sun,Yuwen Wang,Yan Li,Muhammad Ashfaq,Lanhua Dai,Xiaoqing Xie,Chang-Ping Yu,Chang-Ping Yu +7 more
TL;DR: Results showed that BPA, BPF, and BPS were highly removed with removal efficiencies higher than 78%, while BPAF and BPE were resistant in WWTPs, which implied the industrial origin of BPA.
Journal ArticleDOI
The occurrence and fate of tetracyclines in two pharmaceutical wastewater treatment plants of Northern China
TL;DR: Antibiotics were largely removed through biological units of both PWWTPs, with removal efficiencies of 62.0 to 78.3 %.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Findings in this study highlight the important roles of high-temperature biochars in controlling the contamination of tetracycline and quinolone antibiotics in the environment.

Antibiotics in the coastal environment of the Hailing Bay region, South China Sea: Spatial distribution, source analysis and ecological risks
Hui Chen,Shan Liu,Xiang-Rong Xu,Guang-Jie Zhou,Shuang-Shuang Liu,Wei-Zhong Yue,Kai-Feng Sun,Guang-Guo Ying +7 more
TL;DR: The source analysis indicated that untreated domestic sewage was the primary source of antibiotics in the study region and risk assessment indicated that oxytetracycline, norfloxacin and erythromycin-H2O posed high risks to aquatic organisms.

Antibiotics in the aquatic environment - A review - Part II
TL;DR: This review brings up important questions that are still open, and addresses some significant issues which must be tackled in the future for a better understanding of the behavior of antibiotics in the environment, as well as the risks associated with their occurrence.
Journal ArticleDOI
A global perspective on the use, sales, exposure pathways, occurrence, fate and effects of veterinary antibiotics (VAs) in the environment
TL;DR: This paper has attempted to summarize the latest information available in the literature on the use, sales, exposure pathways, environmental occurrence, fate and effects of veterinary antibiotics in animal agriculture.
Journal ArticleDOI
Occurrence of antibiotics in the aquatic environment.
TL;DR: From the large number of ground water samples that were taken from agricultural areas in Germany, no contamination by antibiotics was detected except for two sites, which indicates that intake from veterinary applications to the aquatic environment is of minor importance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Veterinary antibiotics in the aquatic and terrestrial environment
TL;DR: A review of the available data on the present use of veterinary antibiotics in agriculture, on the occurrence of antibiotic compounds and resistant bacteria in soil and water and demonstrates the need for further studies as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Removal of antibiotics in conventional and advanced wastewater treatment: implications for environmental discharge and wastewater recycling.
TL;DR: Certain traditional parameters, including nitrate concentration, conductivity and turbidity of the effluent were assessed as predictors of total antibiotic concentration, however only conductivity demonstrated any correlation with total antibiotics concentration.
