Optimization of a Cold Atmospheric Plasma Treatment to Selectively Affect the Viability of Skin Cancer Cells.

TL;DR: The cancer cell line in study is more sensitive to the liquids treated by CAPs than the non-cancer one (HGF-1), which in the particular case of this jet, seems to be mainly related with the concentration of RNS species produced in the liquids during the plasma exposure since the Concentration of the H2O2 produced is very low.

Towards the fabrication of a morphing plasma source for biomedical applications

TL;DR: A new design of plasma source that merges the main features of capacitive dielectric barrier discharge (DBDBD) and cold atmospheric plasma jet (CAPJ) is discussed in this article.

Cold helium plasma jet does not stimulate collagen remodeling in a 3D human dermal substitute

- 01 Feb 2022 -
TL;DR: In this article , the authors assessed the potential of direct cold atmospheric plasma to remodel skin collagens using an original tissue-engineered human dermal substitute model rich in endogenous extracellular matrix (ECM) covered with 600 µl of culture medium and treated with CAP for 30 and 120 s.

Applied Plasma Medicine

TL;DR: Non-equilibrium plasmas will be shown to be non-destructive to tissue, safe, and effective in inactivation of various parasites and foreign organisms.
Journal ArticleDOI

The emerging role of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species in redox biology and some implications for plasma applications to medicine and biology

TL;DR: The importance of ROS and RNS to plant biology has been relatively little appreciated in the plasma biomedicine community, but it appears that there are opportunities for useful applications of plasmas in this area as well.

Plasmas for medicine

TL;DR: The aim of the new research field of plasma medicine is the exploitation of a much more differentiated interaction of specific plasma components with specific structural as well as functional elements or functionalities of living cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Physical and biological mechanisms of direct plasma interaction with living tissue

TL;DR: Analysis of interaction of floating electrode dielectric barrier discharge with living tissues and cells is presented and biological and physical mechanisms are discussed and a hypothesis of plasma selectivity and its effects is offered.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cold plasma selectivity and the possibility of a paradigm shift in cancer therapy

TL;DR: The development of cold plasma tumour ablation has the potential of shifting the current paradigm of cancer treatment and enabling the transformation ofcancer treatment technologies by utilisation of another state of matter.
