Tauc-plot scale and extrapolation effect on bandgap estimation from UV–vis–NIR data – A case study of β-Ga2O3

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of the Tauc plot scale and bandgap extrapolation technique on estimated optical bandgap values is often not strongly emphasized; however, it is observed that the proper extrapolation method for bandgap estimation is more appropriate as compared to the values obtained from the traditional direct extrapolation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development and characterization of MSM UV photodetector based on gallium oxide nanostructures

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors demonstrate for the first time the enhanced response of Ga2O3 to UV light with wavelength significantly longer than its optical absorption edge ≤ 280 nm.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improvement of the Deep UV Sensor Performance of a β-Ga 2 O 3 Photodiode by Coupling of Two Planar Diodes

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel approach based upon coupling of two Schottky diodes is reported, which leads to a substantial increase in photocurrent (~186 times) when benchmarked against a conventional planar UV photodiode.

First-principles study of the structural, electronic, and optical properties of Ga 2 O 3 in its monoclinic and hexagonal phases

TL;DR: In this paper, the structural, electronic, and optical properties of Ga2O3 in its ambient, monoclinic and high-pressure, hexagonal phases in the framework of all-electron density functional theory were investigated.

Flexible Ultraviolet Photodetectors with Broad Photoresponse Based on Branched ZnS‐ZnO Heterostructure Nanofilms

TL;DR: The application of nanofilm networks made of branched ZnS-ZnO nanostructures as a flexible UV photodetector is demonstrated and shows excellent operational characteristics: tunable spectral selectivity, widerange photoresponse, fast response speed, and excellent environmental stability.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ultrahigh-Responsivity, Rapid-Recovery, Solar-Blind Photodetector Based on Highly Nonstoichiometric Amorphous Gallium Oxide

TL;DR: In this article, amorphous gallium oxide thin films were deposited by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering, and the metal-semiconductor-metal (MSM) PD was fabricated and compared with a β-Ga2O3 film prepared side-by-side as the control sample.
