TLDR
In this article, a reduction treatment in hydrogen at a temperature of 683 K for a duration from 5 to 40 min is described, where the incorporation of hydrogen atoms during the reduction process appears to break down the precursor oxide particles.

As-Prepared Single-Crystalline Hematite Rhombohedra and Subsequent Conversion into Monodisperse Aggregates of Magnetic Nanocomposites of Iron and Magnetite

TL;DR: Monodisperse nanocrystalline rhombohedral composites of Fe and Fe3O4 magnetic materials have been obtained employing a reduction reaction, in a flowing gas mixture of H2 and N2, of single-crystalline, submicron-sized α-Fe2O3 rhombohedra precursors as mentioned in this paper.

MRI based on iron oxide nanoparticles contrast agents: effect of oxidation state and architecture

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focused on different oxidation states of iron oxides, i.e., magnetite, maghemite and hematite for their T1 and T2 contrast enhancement properties and discussed different factors that can affect the contrast properties of the IONPs.

Novel solid-state synthesis of α-Fe and Fe3O4 nanoparticles embedded in a MgO matrix

TL;DR: In this paper, the phase composition, structural and magnetic properties, size and morphology of the nanoparticles were monitored by x-ray diffraction, 57Fe M?ssbauer spectroscopy at temperatures of 24?300?K, transmission electron microscopy and magnetic measurements.

Nanostructured Lithium Manganese Oxide Cathodes Obtained by a Reduction of Aqueous Lithium Permanganate with Hydrogen

TL;DR: In this article, the authors synthesize nanostructured lithium manganese oxides by reducing aqueous lithium permanganate with hydrogen gas at 60°C in the presence and absence of lithium hydroxide followed by firing in vacuum at 250°C.

Magnetic properties of mechanochemically prepared iron–wüstite (Fe–FeyO) nanocomposites

TL;DR: In this paper, the mean crystallite sizes of the iron and wustite in the nanocomposites have been calculated by Scherrer's formula, which were 9±1 and 7±1 nm, respectively.

Giant magnetoresistance in heterogeneous Cu-Co alloys.

TL;DR: Giant magnetoresistance in heterogeneous thin film Cu-Co alloys consisting of ultrafine Co-rich precipitate particles in a Cu-rich matrix is observed, modeled by including spin-dependent scattering at the interfaces between the particles and the matrix, as well as the spin- dependent scattering in the Co- rich particles.

Giant magnetoresistance in nonmultilayer magnetic systems.

TL;DR: The observed isotropic giant magnetoresistance (GMR) in nonmultilayer magnetic systems using granular magnetic solids is shown to occur in magnetically inhomogeneous media containing nonaligned ferromagnetic entities on a microscopic scale.

Surface Spin Disorder in NiFe2O4 Nanoparticles.

TL;DR: In this paper, a model of the magnetization within these particles consisting of ferrimagnetically aligned core spins and a spin-glass-like surface layer is proposed, and the qualitative features of this model are reproduced by a numerical calculation of the spin distribution.
