Abstract
This book presents a comprehensive review of the subject of gravitational effects in quantum field theory. Although the treatment is general, special emphasis is given to the Hawking black hole evaporation effect, and to particle creation processes in the early universe. The last decade has witnessed a phenomenal growth in this subject. This is the first attempt to collect and unify the vast literature that has contributed to this development. All the major technical results are presented, and the theory is developed carefully from first principles. Here is everything that students or researchers will need to embark upon calculations involving quantum effects of gravity at the so-called one-loop approximation level.

Maximal proper acceleration and the structure of spacetime

TL;DR: In this article, a limiting proper acceleration in nature follows deductively from known physics and compels the union of spacetime and four-velocity space into a maximal-acceleration invariant phase space having an intrinsic Kaluza-Klein-type fiber-bundle structure with manifest gauge properties.

Topological black holes in Gauss-Bonnet gravity with conformally invariant Maxwell source

TL;DR: In this article, a class of rotating solutions in Gauss-Bonnet gravity in the presence of cosmological constant and conformally invariant Maxwell field is presented, and the effects of the nonlinearity of the Maxwell source on the properties of the spacetimes are investigated.

Quantum cosmology from the de Broglie-Bohm perspective

TL;DR: In this article, the main results that have been obtained in quantum cosmology from the perspective of the de Broglie-Bohm quantum theory are reviewed, and the main equations which govern the dynamics of quantum cosmological perturbations evolving in non-singular quantum Cosmological backgrounds are presented.

Graphene wormholes: A condensed matter illustration of Dirac fermions in curved space

TL;DR: In this article, an effective theory of Dirac fermions was developed to account for the low-energy electronic properties of the wormholes in the continuum limit, where the frustration induced by the heptagonal defects is mimicked by a line of fictitious gauge flux attached to each of them.

Particle Creation by Black Holes

TL;DR: In this article, it is shown that quantum mechanical effects cause black holes to create and emit particles as if they were hot bodies with temperature, which leads to a slow decrease in the mass of the black hole and to its eventual disappearance.

Foundations of the Theory of Dynamical Systems of Infinitely Many Degrees of Freedom, II

TL;DR: The notion of quantum field remains at this time still rather elusive from a rigorous standpoint as mentioned in this paper, and it was recognized very early by Bohr and Rosenfeld that even in the case of a free field, no physical meaning could be attached to the values of the field at a particular point, only the suitably smoothed averages over finite space-time regions had such a meaning.

Evidence for the existence of gravitational radiation from measurements of the binary pulsar psr 1913+16

TL;DR: The results of four years of timing observations of PSR 1913+16 made with the 305m telescope at the Arecibo Observatory at frequencies near 430 and 1410 MHz are summarized in this paper.
