Abstract
This book presents a comprehensive review of the subject of gravitational effects in quantum field theory. Although the treatment is general, special emphasis is given to the Hawking black hole evaporation effect, and to particle creation processes in the early universe. The last decade has witnessed a phenomenal growth in this subject. This is the first attempt to collect and unify the vast literature that has contributed to this development. All the major technical results are presented, and the theory is developed carefully from first principles. Here is everything that students or researchers will need to embark upon calculations involving quantum effects of gravity at the so-called one-loop approximation level.

Polarized Dirac fermions in de Sitter spacetime

TL;DR: In this article, the tetrad gauge invariant theory of the free Dirac field in two moving frames of de Sitter spacetime is investigated, pointing out the operators that commute with the Dirac one.
Journal ArticleDOI

Power spectrum for inflation models with quantum and thermal noises

TL;DR: In this paper, the power spectrum for inflation models covering all regimes from cold (isentropic) to warm (non-entropical) inflation was determined, in the context of the stochastic inflation approach, which can nicely describe both regimes concomitantly.
Journal ArticleDOI

No quantum friction between uniformly moving plates

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the Casimir forces between two plates moving parallel to each other at arbitrary constant speed are found by calculating the vacuum electromagnetic stress tensor, but there is no lateral force on the plates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modified gravity with logarithmic curvature corrections and the structure of relativistic stars

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of a logarithmic $f(R)$ theory, motivated by the form of the one-loop effective action arising from gluons in curved spacetime, on the structure of relativistic stars was considered.
Journal ArticleDOI

An accelerating cosmology without dark energy

TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider a class of cosmological models where the particle creation rate is assumed to be of the form Γ = βH+γH0, where H is the Hubble parameter and H0 is its present value.

Particle Creation by Black Holes

TL;DR: In this article, it is shown that quantum mechanical effects cause black holes to create and emit particles as if they were hot bodies with temperature, which leads to a slow decrease in the mass of the black hole and to its eventual disappearance.

Foundations of the Theory of Dynamical Systems of Infinitely Many Degrees of Freedom, II

TL;DR: The notion of quantum field remains at this time still rather elusive from a rigorous standpoint as mentioned in this paper, and it was recognized very early by Bohr and Rosenfeld that even in the case of a free field, no physical meaning could be attached to the values of the field at a particular point, only the suitably smoothed averages over finite space-time regions had such a meaning.

Evidence for the existence of gravitational radiation from measurements of the binary pulsar psr 1913+16

TL;DR: The results of four years of timing observations of PSR 1913+16 made with the 305m telescope at the Arecibo Observatory at frequencies near 430 and 1410 MHz are summarized in this paper.
