TLDR
A comprehensive review of the subject of gravitational effects in quantum field theory can be found in this paper, where special emphasis is given to the Hawking black hole evaporation effect, and to particle creation processes in the early universe.Abstract:
This book presents a comprehensive review of the subject of gravitational effects in quantum field theory. Although the treatment is general, special emphasis is given to the Hawking black hole evaporation effect, and to particle creation processes in the early universe. The last decade has witnessed a phenomenal growth in this subject. This is the first attempt to collect and unify the vast literature that has contributed to this development. All the major technical results are presented, and the theory is developed carefully from first principles. Here is everything that students or researchers will need to embark upon calculations involving quantum effects of gravity at the so-called one-loop approximation level.read more

Hawking radiation as perceived by different observers
TL;DR: Barcelo et al. as discussed by the authors used a non-stationary vacuum state for a quantum scalar field, which interpolates between the Boulware vacuum state and the Unruh vacuum state at late times.

Designer Curved-Space Geometry for Relativistic Fermions in Weyl Metamaterials

TL;DR: In this paper, the behavior of charge carriers mirrors the physics of Einstein's special relativity, and a new analysis shows how to engineer materials where the particles mimic the principles of general relativity, opening the door to novel electronic devices.

Nonperturbative quantum dynamics of a new inflation model
TL;DR: In this article, an O(N) model coupled self-consistently to gravity in the semiclassical approximation, where the field is subject to new inflation{close_quotes} type initial conditions, was considered and the spinodal instabilities drove the growth of non-perturbatively large quantum fluctuations which shut off the inflationary growth of the scale factor.

Brane skyrmions and wrapped states
TL;DR: In the context of a brane world and including an induced curvature term in the brane action, this paper obtained the effective Lagrangian for the Goldstone bosons (branons) associated with the spontaneous breaking of the translational invariance in the bulk.
What comes beyond the standard models
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a review of cosmology models and discuss possible extensions and generalizations, by paying a critical attention to the still open is-sues as, for instance, the detectability of child universes and the properties of quantumtunnelling processes.

Particle Creation by Black Holes
TL;DR: In this article, it is shown that quantum mechanical effects cause black holes to create and emit particles as if they were hot bodies with temperature, which leads to a slow decrease in the mass of the black hole and to its eventual disappearance.

Foundations of the Theory of Dynamical Systems of Infinitely Many Degrees of Freedom, II
TL;DR: The notion of quantum field remains at this time still rather elusive from a rigorous standpoint as mentioned in this paper, and it was recognized very early by Bohr and Rosenfeld that even in the case of a free field, no physical meaning could be attached to the values of the field at a particular point, only the suitably smoothed averages over finite space-time regions had such a meaning.
