Stimuli-responsive molecular brushes

TLDR
In this paper, the authors review the general aspects of molecular brushes and polymeric responsive systems and highlight the rational approaches to induce stimuli-responsiveness in molecular brush systems, which are unique for molecular brushes since these conformational changes can be restricted to a single molecule.

Shifting electronic structure by inherent tension in molecular bottlebrushes with polythiophene backbones

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of tension on the electronic structure of polythiophene (PT) were investigated by grafting poly(n-butyl acrylate) (PBA) side chains from PT macroinitiators by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP).
Journal ArticleDOI

A Monte Carlo study on LCCC characterization of graft copolymers at the critical condition of side chains

TL;DR: In this paper, lattice Monte Carlo simulations of A-g-B graft copolymers modeled as either random walk (RW) or self-avoiding walk (SAW) chains composed of multiple invisible B blocks grafted to an A backbone was performed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of residual copper on stability of molecular brushes prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization

TL;DR: Effect of residual copper on stability of molecular brushes with poly(n-butyl acrylate) (PBA) side chains was studied and further removal was required to prevent crosslinking reactions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Substrate Effect on the Phase Behavior of Polymer Brushes with Lattice Density Functional Theory

TL;DR: In this article, the lattice density functional theory (LDFT) is used to describe the substrate effect on the phase behavior of polymer brush grafted on different substrates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stereoregular High-Density Bottlebrush Polymer and Its Organic Nanocrystal Stereocomplex through Triple-Helix Formation

TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis of a well-defined molecular bottlebrush polymer with stereoregular side chains (i.e., syndiotactic PMMA) is reported. But the synthesis is restricted to the case where the molecular weight, side-chain tacticity, and architecture are controlled.

Living free-radical polymerization by reversible addition - Fragmentation chain transfer: The RAFT process

TL;DR: The authors proposed a reversible additive-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) method for living free-radical polymerization, which can be used with a wide range of monomers and reaction conditions and in each case it provides controlled molecular weight polymers with very narrow polydispersities.

Environment-sensitive hydrogels for drug delivery

TL;DR: Development of environmentally sensitive hydrogels with a wide array of desirable properties can be made is a formidable challenge, however, if the achievements of the past can be extrapolated into the future, it is highly likely that responsive hydrogelWith such properties can been made.
