TLDR
In this article, an improved synthesis of the title compounds was reported, and the N,N'-dialkylthioureas 1 with 3-hydroxy-2-butanone gave the imidazole-2(3H)-thiones 2 which on treatment with potassium in boiling tetrahydrofuran give the IMidazol-2ylidenes 3 in excellent yields
Abstract
An improved synthesis of the title compounds is reported. Reaction of the N,N'-dialkylthioureas 1 with 3-hydroxy-2-butanone gives the imidazole-2(3H)-thiones 2 which on treatment with potassium in boiling tetrahydrofuran give the imidazol-2-ylidenes 3 in excellent yields

Heterozyklen als liganden: XX. Spektroskopische und strukturelle charakterisierung von pentacarbonylmetall-komplexen der imidazol-2-ylidene☆

TL;DR: The imidazol-2-ylidene complexes I and II were obtained from M(CO)6 (M  Cr, Mo, W) and the corresponding imidazeldazol 2-ylidenes in good yields as discussed by the authors.

Synthesis and Reactivity of Ru(PPh3)3(CO)HF and the N-Heterocyclic Carbene Derivatives Ru(NHC)(PPh3)2(CO)HF

TL;DR: The reaction of Ru(PPh3)3(CO)H2 with excess Et3N·3HF at elevated temperature affords the hydride fluoride complex Ru(pPh3)-3-CO)HF (1) as mentioned in this paper, which reacts with a series of N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) at ambient temperature to form the mono-NHC products Ru(NHC), PPh3), 3-COH2, and Ru(IiPr2Me2)2(PCH2)-CO)

Selective Initiation from Unprotected Aminoalcohols for the N-Heterocyclic Carbene-Organocatalyzed Ring-Opening Polymerization of 2-Methyl-N-tosyl Aziridine: Telechelic and Block Copolymer Synthesis

TL;DR: In this article, commercial amino alcohols, namely, 2-(methyl amino)ethanol (1) and diethanolamine (2), are investigated as direct initiators, i.e., with no need of protection of the hydroxyl groups, for the N-heterocyclic carbene-organocatalyzed ring-opening polymerization (NHC-OROP) of 2-methyl-Np-toluenesulfonyl aziridine.
