The nucleotide sequence of rat liver tRNAAsn.

TLDR
This tRNA is unique in having X, 3-Amino-3-carboxy-n-propyl)uridine in loop I rather than in loop III; Q, 7-deazaguanosine in the wobble position of loop II; and Z, an unknown, and presently uncharacterized nucleoside, at position 23 from the 3′ terminus usually occupied by ribothymidine.

Mutational analysis of the "slippery-sequence" component of a coronavirus ribosomal frameshifting signal.

TL;DR: The results indicate that triplets of A, C, G and U are functional when decoded in the ribosomal P-site following slippage although C triplets were the least effective, and preliminary evidence suggests that the RNA pseudoknot may play a role in influencing frameshift direction.
Journal ArticleDOI

A mammalian mitochondrial serine transfer RNA lacking the "dihydrouridine" loop and stem.

TL;DR: A unique transfer RNA has been identified in human and bovine mitochondria that lacks the "dihydrouridine" loop and stem structure and can be aminoacylated with serine when purified mitochondria are incubated in a medium containing 3H-serine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Expression of a coronavirus ribosomal frameshift signal in Escherichia coli: influence of tRNA anticodon modification on frameshifting

TL;DR: In strains of Escherichia coli unable to modify fully either tRNALys or tRNAAsn, frameshifting was very inefficient and in strains deficient in the biosynthesis of Q base, was increased (AAU) or decreased (AAC) only two-fold.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nucleotide sequence of genes coding for tRNAPhe and tRNATyr from a repeating unit of X. laevis DNA

TL;DR: A cloned 3.18 kb repeating unit of Xenopus laevis DNA, known to contain two tRNA1Met genes, has been partially sequenced and could potentially code for two more tRNA species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prediction of pairing schemes in RNA molecules-loop contributions and energy of wobble and non-wobble pairs

Jacques Ninio
- 19 Feb 1980 -
TL;DR: A systematic investigation of the predictability of the clover leaf structure of tRNA under various assumptions concerning the energetic contributions of single and double-stranded regions shows that under conditions which are much less restrictive than those of previous attempts, 90 per cent predictability is reached.

Analysis of bacteriophage T7 early RNAs and proteins on slab gels

TL;DR: The RNAs and proteins specified by five early genes of bacteriophage T7 have been identified by electrophoresis on sodium dodecyl sulfate, polyacrylamide gels using a slab gel system in which 25 samples can be run simultaneously and then dried for autoradiography.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mapping adenines, guanines, and pyrimidines in RNA

TL;DR: The positions of adenines, guanines, and pyrimidines can be determined by partial nuclease digestion of a terminally labeles RNA molecule and form the basis of an RNA sequencing method and are demonstrated on yeast 5.8S ribosomal RNA.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enhanced autoradiographic detection of 32P and 125I using intensifying screens and hypersensitized film

TL;DR: This paper reports that autoradiographic sensitivity can be greatly increased for isotopes which emit y rays or high energy p particles by placing a pre-exposed film between the sample and a calcium tungstate X-ray intensifying screen and exposing at --70°C.
Journal ArticleDOI

New rapid gel sequencing method for RNA.

TL;DR: A developed method is described that is used in establishing the sequence of tyrosine tRNA of Bacillus stearothermophilus and it is described as an attractive experimental system for studying the specific interaction of tRNA and synthetases.
Journal ArticleDOI

The sequence of phenylalanine tRNA from E. coli

TL;DR: The sequence of this tRNA is studied but certain results are in conflict with the above sequence but the sequences of the nucleotides are tentatively identified as 2-thiomethyl&isopentenyl adenylic acid.
