Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of medium ring ethers. 5. the synthesis of (+)-laurencin
Jonathan W. Burton,J. Stephen Clark,Sam Derrer,Thomas Stork,and Justin G. Bendall,Andrew B. Holmes +5 more
TL;DR: The enantioselective synthesis of (+)-laurencin 1 has been achieved in 27 steps from (R)-malic acid 20 as discussed by the authors, which involved methylenation of the lactone 49 followed by intramolecular hydrosilation of the enol ether 14 and one carbon homologation of diol 13 to give the key ethyl substituted cyclic ether 59 (Scheme 13).
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of Molded Monolithic Porous Polymers Using Supercritical Carbon Dioxide as the Porogenic Solvent

Electroluminescent device comprising a chromophoric polymeric composition
Andrew B. Holmes,Arno Kraft,Paul L. Burn,Stephen C. Moratti,Richard H. Friend,Donal D. C. Bradley,Neil C. Greenham,Adam Brown,J.H.F. Martens,Franco Cacialli,Johannes Gruener +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, an electroluminescent device is provided incorporating an emissive layer comprising a processible polymer matrix such as poly(methylmethacrylate) and a chromophoric component such as an asymmetric stilbene or distyrylbenzene.
Journal ArticleDOI
Self-Assembling Thiophene Dendrimers with a Hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene Core-Synthesis, Characterization and Performance in Bulk Heterojunction Solar Cells
Wallace W. H. Wong,Chang-Qi Ma,Wojciech Pisula,Chao Yan,Xinliang Feng,David J. Jones,Klaus Müllen,René A. J. Janssen,Peter Bäuerle,Andrew B. Holmes +9 more
TL;DR: The use of fluorenyl hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene (FHBC) 2 has highlighted the importance of molecular organization to device performance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Solution Processable Fluorenyl Hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronenes in Organic Field-Effect Transistors and Solar Cells
Wallace W. H. Wong,Th. B. Singh,Doojin Vak,Wojciech Pisula,Chao Yan,Xinliang Feng,Evan L. Williams,K. L. Chan,Q. H. Mao,David J. Jones,Chang-Qi Ma,Klaus Müllen,Peter Bäuerle,Andrew B. Holmes +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the properties and device performance of three structural variations of the fluorenyl hexa-perihexabenzocoronene (FHBC) material, highlighting the importance of molecular organization to device performance.
