Journal ArticleDOI

Photophysical properties of a photocytotoxic fluorinated chlorin conjugated to four β-cyclodextrins

TL;DR: The study suggests that in ethanol and pH 7 buffer the beta-cyclodextrins embed the highly hydrophobic tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)-chlorin macrocycle and strongly interact with the chlorin rings in the singlet and triplet manifolds, resulting in a longer lived triplet with spectral properties indistinguishable from that of original difference absorbance spectra.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solid-phase synthesis of 2′-hydroxychalcones. Effects on cell growth inhibition, cell cycle and apoptosis of human tumor cell lines

TL;DR: Generally, the tested chalcones interfered with the cell cycle profile and increased the percentage of apoptotic MCF-7 cells, which may help to identify new chalcone-like structures with optimized cell growth inhibitory activity which may be further tested as potential antitumor agents.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antitumor Activity of Quinazolinone Alkaloids Inspired by Marine Natural Products.

TL;DR: The purpose of this work was to synthesize the enantiomeric pairs of two members of this quinazolinone family, to explore their potential as antitumor and their ability to revert multidrug resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Isolation and structural characterization of new anthocyanin-alkyl-catechin pigments

TL;DR: In this paper, a condensation reaction between malvidin 3-glucoside (mv3gl) and catechin mediated by acetaldehyde and propionaldehyde was conducted in model solutions at two pH values (at 1.5 and 3.2).
Journal ArticleDOI

Oxidation of bicyclic arenes with hydrogen peroxide catalysed by Mn(III) porphyrins

TL;DR: Several manganese(III) porphyrin complexes were evaluated as catalysts in the oxidation of indane and tetralin with hydrogen peroxide, in the presence of ammonium acetate as a co-catalyst as mentioned in this paper.
