TL;DR: How in vivo locus coeruleus imaging can be used as a biomarker for noradrenergic dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases is described and a strategy for achieving reliable and biologically validated imaging approaches is outlined.

TL;DR: Analyzing the relationship between subregional MTL activity, memory performance, and levels of total and phosphorylated tau as well as Aβ42/40 ratio in CSF shows that measures of tau pathology are associated with increased hippocampal activity and reduced mnemonic discrimination of similar objects but not scenes, suggesting that object mnemon discrimination tasks could be promising markers for tau-related cognitive decline.
