Locus coeruleus imaging as a biomarker for noradrenergic dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases

Matthew J. Betts, +59 more
- 01 Sep 2019 -
TL;DR: How in vivo locus coeruleus imaging can be used as a biomarker for noradrenergic dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases is described and a strategy for achieving reliable and biologically validated imaging approaches is outlined.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hippocampal vascular reserve associated with cognitive performance and hippocampal volume.

TL;DR: Using 7 Tesla time-of-flight angiography, Perosa et al. examine the impact of differences in elderly adults with and without cerebral small vessel disease, finding a mixed hippocampal supply provides a hippocampal vascular reserve that protects against cognitive impairment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Higher CSF Tau Levels Are Related to Hippocampal Hyperactivity and Object Mnemonic Discrimination in Older Adults.

TL;DR: Analyzing the relationship between subregional MTL activity, memory performance, and levels of total and phosphorylated tau as well as Aβ42/40 ratio in CSF shows that measures of tau pathology are associated with increased hippocampal activity and reduced mnemonic discrimination of similar objects but not scenes, suggesting that object mnemon discrimination tasks could be promising markers for tau-related cognitive decline.
