Age-specific CT and MRI templates for spatial normalization.
Chris Rorden,Leonardo Bonilha,Julius Fridriksson,Benjamin Bender,Hans-Otto Karnath,Hans-Otto Karnath +5 more
TL;DR: Specialized templates that allow normalization algorithms to be applied to stroke-aged populations are introduced and a MRI template is derived that approximately matches the shape of the CT template.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural brain abnormalities in the common epilepsies assessed in a worldwide ENIGMA study.
Christopher D. Whelan,Christopher D. Whelan,Andre Altmann,Juan A. Botía,Neda Jahanshad,Derrek P. Hibar,Julie Absil,Saud Alhusaini,Saud Alhusaini,Marina K. M. Richardson,Pasquale Striano,Thomas Thesen,Thomas Thesen,Roland Wiest,Junsong Zhang,Annamaria Vezzani,Mina Ryten,Mina Ryten,Paul M. Thompson,Sanjay M. Sisodiya +105 more
TL;DR: In the largest neuroimaging study to date, Whelan and colleagues report robust structural alterations across and within epilepsy syndromes, including shared volume loss in the thalamus, and widespread cortical thickness differences.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nigral stimulation for resistant axial motor impairment in Parkinson's disease? A randomized controlled trial.
Daniel Weiss,Margarete Walach,Christoph Meisner,Melanie Fritz,Marlieke Scholten,Sorin Breit,Christian Plewnia,Benjamin Bender,Alireza Gharabaghi,Tobias Wächter,Rejko Krüger +10 more
TL;DR: The perspective is opened that concomittant stimulation of the substantia nigra pars reticulata possibly improves otherwise resistant freezing of gait and, therefore, highly warrants a subsequent phase III randomized controlled trial.
Journal ArticleDOI
Autosomal recessive spastic ataxia of Charlevoix Saguenay (ARSACS): expanding the genetic, clinical and imaging spectrum
Matthis Synofzik,Anne S. Soehn,Janina Gburek-Augustat,Julia Schicks,Kathrin N. Karle,Rebecca Schüle,Tobias B. Haack,Martin Schöning,Saskia Biskup,Sabine Rudnik-Schöneborn,Jan Senderek,Jan Senderek,Karl-Titus Hoffmann,Patrick MacLeod,Johannes Schwarz,Benjamin Bender,Stefan Krüger,Friedmar Kreuz,Peter Bauer,Ludger Schöls +19 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that each feature of the classical ARSACS triad might be missing in ARSacS, and characteristic MRI features – which also extend to supratentorial regions and involve the cerebral cortex – will help to establish the diagnosis in most cases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Iterative reconstruction in head CT: image quality of routine and low-dose protocols in comparison with standard filtered back-projection.
Andreas Korn,Michael Fenchel,Benjamin Bender,Sören Danz,Till-Karsten Hauser,Dominik Ketelsen,Thomas Flohr,Claus D. Claussen,Martin Heuschmid,Ulrike Ernemann,Harald Brodoefel +10 more
TL;DR: Compared with conventional FBP, IR of head CT is associated with significant improvement of objective and subjective IQ and may allow dose reductions in the range of 20% without compromising standard image quality.
