Journal ArticleDOI
Cell-Cycle-Targeting MicroRNAs as Therapeutic Tools against Refractory Cancers
Per Hydbring,Per Hydbring,Yinan Wang,Anne Fassl,Xiaoting Li,Veronica Matia,Tobias Otto,Yoon Jong Choi,Katharine E. Sweeney,Jan M. Suski,Hao Yin,Roman L. Bogorad,Shom Goel,Haluk Yuzugullu,Kevin J. Kauffman,Junghoon Yang,Chong Jin,Yingxiang Li,Davide Floris,Richard Swanson,Kimmie Ng,Ewa Sicinska,Lars Anders,Jean J. Zhao,Kornelia Polyak,Daniel G. Anderson,Cheng Li,Piotr Sicinski +27 more
TL;DR: A distinct class of miRNAs are uncovered that target nearly all cyclins/CDKs, which are very effective in inhibiting cancer cell proliferation, and highlight the utility of using cell-cycle-targeting miRNAs for treatment of refractory cancer types.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel pheochromocytoma susceptibility loci identified by integrative genomics.
Patricia L. M. Dahia,Ke Hao,John Rogus,Christian Colin,Christian Colin,Miguel A.G. Pujana,Kenneth N. Ross,Danielle Magoffin,Danielle Magoffin,Neil Aronin,Alberto Cascón,C Y Hayashida,Cheng Li,Sergio P. A. Toledo,Charles D. Stiles +14 more
TL;DR: A familial pheochromocytoma syndrome consistent with digenic inheritance identified through a combination of global genomics strategies is described and a recessive digenic trait is added to the increasingly broad genetic heterogeneity of these tumors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical reprogramming of human somatic cells to pluripotent stem cells
Jingyang Guan,Guan Wang,Jinlin Wang,Zhengyuan Zhang,Yao Fu,Lin Cheng,Gaofan Meng,Yulin Lyu,Jialiang Zhu,Yanqin Li,Yang Wang,Shi Liuyang,Bei Liu,Zirun Yang,Huanjing He,Xinxing Zhong,Qijing Chen,Xu Zhang,Shicheng Sun,Wei Lai,Yan Shi,Lulu Liu,Lipeng Wang,Cheng Li,Shichun Lu,Hongkui Deng +25 more
TL;DR: The JNK pathway was identified as a major barrier to chemical reprogramming, the inhibition of which was indispensable for inducing cell plasticity and a regeneration-like program by suppressing pro-inflammatory pathways and provides a platform for the generation and application of human pluripotent stem cells in biomedicine.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of genes regulated by 2-methoxyestradiol (2ME2) in multiple myeloma cells using oligonucleotide arrays
Dharminder Chauhan,Guilan Li,Daniel Auclair,Teru Hideshima,Paul G. Richardson,Klaus Podar,Nicholas Mitsiades,Constantine Mitsiades,Cheng Li,Ryung Suk Kim,Nikhil C. Munshi,Lan Bo Chen,Wing Hung Wong,Kenneth C. Anderson +13 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that 2ME2 overcomes Dex resistance by modulating genes that confer chemoresistance in MM cells, and may allow improved therapeutic use of 2 ME2, based upon targeting genes that regulate MM cell growth and survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Integrative analysis of gene and miRNA expression profiles with transcription factor–miRNA feed-forward loops identifies regulators in human cancers
Zhenyu Yan,Parantu K. Shah,Samir B. Amin,Mehmet Kemal Samur,Norman Huang,Xujun Wang,Vikas Misra,Hongbin Ji,Dana Gabuzda,Cheng Li +9 more
TL;DR: The dChip-GemiNI (Gene and miRNA Network-based Integration) method statistically ranks computationally predicted FFLs by their explanatory power to account for differential gene and miRNAs expression between two biological conditions such as normal and cancer.
