Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 in the Heart
TL;DR: Intercellular adhesion molecule‐1 (ICAM‐1) belongs to the superfamily of immunoglobulin‐like adhesion molecules and may provide a novel therapeutic option for acute myocardial infarction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Presence of human papillomavirus in semen in relation to semen quality.
Roosmarijn Luttmer,Maaike G. Dijkstra,Peter J.F. Snijders,Peter G.A. Hompes,Divera T.M. Pronk,Isabelle Hubeek,Johannes Berkhof,Daniëlle A.M. Heideman,Chris J.L.M. Meijer +8 more
TL;DR: As HPV is frequently present in semen, screening of donor semen for HPV should be considered to prevent iatrogenic cervical HPV infections in the recipient, however the findings do not support standardized HPV testing of semen in the diagnostic work-up of subfertile couples.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human papillomavirus type 16 E2-specific T-helper lymphocyte responses in patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia.
Hetty J. Bontkes,Tanja D. de Gruijl,Astrid Bijl,René H.M. Verheijen,Chris J.L.M. Meijer,Rik J. Scheper,Peter L. Stern,Julie E. Burns,Norman J. Maitland,Jan M. M. Walboomers +9 more
TL;DR: The in vitro production of interleukin-2 by T-helper (Th) cells in response to the C-terminal and Nterminal domains of the HPV-16 E2 protein was determined in 74 women with cytological evidence of premalignant cervical epithelial neoplasia who participated in a non-intervention follow-up (FU) study.
Journal ArticleDOI
High Effectiveness of the Bivalent Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine Against Incident and Persistent HPV Infections up to 6 Years After Vaccination in Young Dutch Women
Robine Donken,Audrey J. King,Johannes A. Bogaards,Petra J. Woestenberg,Chris J.L.M. Meijer,H.E. de Melker +5 more
TL;DR: The findings of nearly full protection against vaccine-type persistent infections and significant cross-protection to nonvaccine types in a population-based cohort study confirm the effectiveness of the bivalent HPV vaccine as estimated in trials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of paan chewing and dietary habits in cervical carcinoma in Chennai, India.
Thangarajan Rajkumar,Silvia Franceschi,Salvatore Vaccarella,Vendhan Gajalakshmi,Ajit Sharmila,Peter J.F. Snijders,Nubia Muñoz,Chris J.L.M. Meijer,R Herrero +8 more
TL;DR: The adverse influence of paan chewing on ICC risk seemed to be attributable to a higher prevalence of cervical HPV infection in women who chewed, and the inverse association with vegetable and fruit intake was confirmed.
