A comprehensive quantification of global nitrous oxide sources and sinks
Hanquin Tian,Rongting Xu,Josep G. Canadell,Rona Thompson,Wilfried Winiwarter,Wilfried Winiwarter,Parvadha Suntharalingam,Eric A. Davidson,Philippe Ciais,Robert B. Jackson,Greet Janssens-Maenhout,Michael J. Prather,Pierre Regnier,Naiqing Pan,Shufen Pan,Glen P. Peters,Hao Shi,Francesco N. Tubiello,Sönke Zaehle,Feng Zhou,Almut Arneth,Gianna Battaglia,Sarah Berthet,Laurent Bopp,Alexander F. Bouwman,Alexander F. Bouwman,Alexander F. Bouwman,Erik T. TL;DR: A global N2O inventory is presented that incorporates both natural and anthropogenic sources and accounts for the interaction between nitrogen additions and the biochemical processes that control N 2O emissions, using bottom-up, top-down and process-based model approaches.
Journal ArticleDOI
TransCom model simulations of CH4 and related species: linking transport, surface flux and chemical loss with CH4 variability in the troposphere and lower stratosphere
Prabir K. Patra,Sander Houweling,Maarten Krol,Maarten Krol,Philippe Bousquet,Dmitry Belikov,Dan Bergmann,Huisheng Bian,Philip Cameron-Smith,Martyn P. Chipperfield,K. Corbin,Audrey Fortems-Cheiney,Annemarie Fraser,Emanuel Gloor,Peter Hess,Akinori Ito,Akinori Ito,Stephan R. Kawa,Rachel M. Law,Zoe Loh,Shamil Maksyutov,Lei Meng,Lei Meng,Paul I. Palmer,Ronald G. Prinn,Matthew Rigby,R. Saito,Chris Wilson +27 more
TL;DR: In this article, a chemistry-transport model (CTM) intercompar- ison experiment (TransCom-CH4) has been designed to in- vestigate the roles of surface emissions, transport and chemi- cal loss in simulating the global methane distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acceleration of global N2O emissions seen from two decades of atmospheric inversion
Rona Thompson,Luis Lassaletta,Prabir K. Patra,Chris Wilson,Kelley C. Wells,A. Gressent,E. N. Koffi,Martyn P. Chipperfield,Wilfried Winiwarter,Wilfried Winiwarter,Eric A. Davidson,Hanqin Tian,J. G. Canadell +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present estimates of N2O emissions determined from three global atmospheric inversion frameworks during the period 1998-2016, and find that global N 2O emissions increased substantially from 2009 and at a faster rate than estimated by the IPCC emission factor approach.
Journal ArticleDOI
UDiTaS™, a genome editing detection method for indels and genome rearrangements
Georgia Giannoukos,Dawn Ciulla,Eugenio Marco,Hayat S Abdulkerim,Luis A. Barrera,Anne Bothmer,Vidya Dhanapal,Sebastian Gloskowski,Hariharan Jayaram,Morgan L. Maeder,Maxwell N. Skor,Tongyao Wang,Vic E. Myer,Chris Wilson +13 more
TL;DR: UDiTaS is a robust and streamlined sequencing method useful for measuring small indels as well as structural rearrangements, like translocations, in a single reaction, and is especially useful for pre-clinical and clinical application of gene editing to measure on- and off-target editing, large and small.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multi-model study of chemical and physical controls on transport of anthropogenic and biomass burning pollution to the Arctic
S. A. Monks,S. A. Monks,S. A. Monks,Steve R. Arnold,Louisa K. Emmons,Kathy S. Law,Solène Turquety,Bryan N. Duncan,Johannes Flemming,Vincent Huijnen,Simone Tilmes,Joakim Langner,Jingqiu Mao,Y. Long,Jennie L. Thomas,Stephen D. Steenrod,Jean-Christophe Raut,Chris Wilson,Martyn P. Chipperfield,Glenn S. Diskin,Andrew J. Weinheimer,Hans Schlager,Gérard Ancellet +22 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the impact of inter-model differences in transport and ozone on CO in the Arctic troposphere using idealised CO-like tracers, and found that intermodel variability in OH similarly affects all regional tracers at Barrow.
