Journal ArticleDOI

Three assays for in-solution enrichment of ancient human DNA at more than a million SNPs

TL;DR: In 2019, two companies, Daicel Arbor Biosciences and Twist Bioscience, made available assays that target the same core set of SNPs along with supplementary content as discussed by the authors .
Journal ArticleDOI

An ethnic-specific polymorphism in the catalytic subunit of glutamate-cysteine ligase impairs the production of glutathione intermediates in vitro.

TL;DR: A glutathione production pathway polymorphism present in individuals of African descent with significantly decreased in vitro activity is reported, and it is demonstrated that apoptotically stimulated mammalian cells overexpressing the 462S enzyme have increased caspase activation and increased DNA laddering compared to cells overexpression of the wild-type 462P enzyme.

Genes Affecting Vocal and Facial Anatomy Went Through Extensive Regulatory Divergence in Modern Humans

TL;DR: Widespread hypermethylation in a network of face- and voice-affecting genes is identified and it is proposed that these repression patterns appeared after the split from Neanderthals and Denisovans and that they might have played a key role in shaping the modern human face and vocal tract.
