Journal ArticleDOI
Allogeneic bone marrow transplantation for agnogenic myeloid metaplasia
Philippe Guardiola,Helene Esperou,Dominique Cazals-Hatem,Norbert Ifrah,Jean-Pierre Jouet,Agnès Buzyn,Laurent Sutton,Nicole Gratecos,Hervé Tilly,Bruno Lioure,Eliane Gluckman +10 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that extensive myelofibrosis is not associated with delayed engraftment, and that HLA‐identical sibling allogeneic BMT can be considered in a small proportion of patients with agnogenic myeloid metaplasia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation for Shwachman-Diamond disease: a study from the European Group for blood and marrow transplantation
Simone Cesaro,Rosi Oneto,Chiara Messina,Brenda Gibson,Agnes Buzyn,Colin G. Steward,Eliane Gluckman,Robbert Breddius,Marc Boogaerts,Christiane Vermylen,Paul Veys,Judith C. W. Marsh,Isabel Badell,Gérard Michel,Tayfun Güngör,Dietrich Niethammer,Pierre Bordigoni,Cecilia Oswald,Claudio Favre,Jakob Passweg,Giorgio Dini +20 more
TL;DR: Allo‐SCT was found to be successful in more than half of SDS patients with severe bone marrow dysfunction, and further improvements would be anticipated by a better definition of the optimum time in the course of disease to transplant and by the adoption of less toxic conditioning regimens.
Journal ArticleDOI
Telomerase activity during the cell cycle and in gamma-irradiated hematopoietic cells
TL;DR: The activation of telomerase observed after gamma-irradiation may suggest the involvement of telomere elongation in DNA repair and chromosome healing.
Journal ArticleDOI
The expression of cytokine and cytokine receptor genes in long-term bone marrow culture in congenital and acquired bone marrow hypoplasias.
TL;DR: Using reverse transcriptase/polymerase chain reaction method (RT/PCR), the expression of cytokines, the c‐kit and IL‐6 receptors, in long‐term bone marrow culture (LTC) adherent layer cells in human bone marrow hypoplasia syndromes are examined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Allogeneic bone marrow transplantation for acute leukemia in patients over the age of 40 years
J.Y. Cahn,M. Labopin,A.V.M.B. Schattenberg,Josy Reiffers,R. Willemze,Zittoun R,Almalina Bacigalupo,G Prentice,Eliane Gluckman,P. Herve,A. Gratwohl,Norbert-Claude Gorin +11 more
TL;DR: A pair-matched analysis of AML patients did not show any statistical difference in the probability of LFS, RI, TRM, and survival for the two age cohorts of patients, suggesting that BMT should be considered for patients over 40 years of age.
