Increased Ribavirin Bioavailability Associated With Telaprevir Use in Hepatitis C Patients Treated With PEGylated -Interferon/Ribavirin/Telaprevir Triple Therapy

TL;DR: The results indicated a reversible increase in RBV bioavailability after telaprevir exposure, which might be linked to the impairment of the GFR, and suggest that RBV pharmacological monitoring may be clinically relevant, especially in the context of first-generation HCV protease inhibitor-based therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Viral hepatitis Elimination: Towards a hepatitis free world.

TL;DR: In this paper , a special conference was held to examine current efforts and metrics to assess progress towards elimination of chronic viral hepatitis in the United States, and the World Health Organization defined the targets for elimination, but it is unclear how these can be achieved and how they should be measured.
Journal ArticleDOI

Copper Isotope Evidence of Oxidative Stress–Induced Hepatic Breakdown and the Transition to Hepatocellular Carcinoma

TL;DR: In this article , copper isotope variations (δ65Cu) were evaluated in the serum of HCCnegative and HCC-positive patients as a biomarker of hepatic failure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development of hepatocellular carcinoma in chronic hepatitis B patients with advanced fibrosis is independent of viral genotype.

TL;DR: Serum, intrahepatic viral‐markers, and long‐term follow‐up of prevalent genotypes (GT) B and C in patients with biopsy proven advanced fibrosis showed no difference in serum HBV‐DNA, qHBsAg or intra hepatic HBv‐DNA was seen in the two genotypes.
