Skip and bin: pervasive alternative splicing triggers degradation by nuclear RNA surveillance in fission yeast
Danny A. Bitton,Sophie R. Atkinson,Charalampos Rallis,Graeme C. Smith,David A. Ellis,Daniel C. Jeffares,Yuan Y.C. Chen,Michal Malecki,Sandra Codlin,Michal Lubas,Jean-François Lemay,François Bachand,Cristina Cotobal,Samuel Marguerat,Juan Mata,T Jensen Heick,Jürg Bähler +16 more
TL;DR: Analysis of fission yeast transcriptomes revealed widespread, but low frequency alternative splicing which is targeted by nuclear RNA surveillance, some of which being degraded by the nuclear exosome.

Functional and Regulatory Profiling of Energy Metabolism in Fission Yeast
Michal Malecki,Michal Malecki,Danny A. Bitton,María Rodríguez-López,Charalampos Rallis,Charalampos Rallis,Noelia Garcia Cavalia,Graeme C. Smith,Jürg Bähler +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors applied gene expression profiling approaches to compare steady-state fermentative and respiratory growth and to analyse the dynamic adaptation to respiratory growth in fission yeast, and found that the acetyl-CoA synthase, rather than the citrate lyase, is essential for acetyl CoA synthesis in Fission yeast.

A family of transcription factors that limit lifespan: ETS factors have conserved roles in longevity
Adam J. Dobson,Boulton-McDonald R,Houchou L,Ziyu Ren,Mimoza Hoti,María Rodríguez-López,Alexis Gkantiragas,Gregoriou A,Jürg Bähler,Marina Ezcurra,Nazif Alic +10 more
TL;DR: In vivo genome-wide mRNA expression analysis in response to Aop, Pnt or Foxo indicated, and further experiments confirmed, that combinatorial activities of the three TFs dictate metabolic status, and that direct reduction of Pnt activity is sufficient to promote longevity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gene expression analysis in non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using microarray technology
Paolo Fardin,Jürg Bähler,Paolo Capanni,Erika Inglese,Annamaria Ricciardi,Giovanni B. Ferrara +5 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Global approaches to study gene regulation
TL;DR: This issue of the Methods journal brings together articles from experts and pioneers who present a wide range of state-of-the-art approaches to study gene regulation, including global analyses of chromatin, transcription, RNA, translation, proteins, and computational methods.
